Hello All,

I'm Andy from the Mitten state and I just bought my first A body last night. I started searching for a classic car to have fun with roughly 3-4 months ago. I wanted the vintage trans am or road racing experience. I've been a huge fan of the Goodwood Revival and love vintage weekend at my local road course Waterford Hills Raceway in Clarkston, MI.

So I started my search interested in old Ford Falcons until a friend of mine gave me a proverbial slapping and educated me on old mopars. When I finally understood what kind of tire can be squeezed under the fender of an A body and saw what Hotchkis offers suspension wise I was interested. When I saw the video of the E max challenger at an autocross I was pretty much sold.

I sold my 2008 HHR SS with a LSD and 5 speed, paid off some debt and started seriously shopping. To the joy of my wife I actually found one nearby instead of several hundred miles away.

So long story short....I'm officially a Mopar owner. Hopefully coming to an autocross and track day in the near future. For now I'll just start wrenching and keep grinning.

Pics to follow as soon as the car gets delivered on Sunday!

Thanks,
Andy,

Welcome! Nice looking demon. Always nice to have another member that actually wants their car to handle!

There's getting to be quite a few options out there for making the original torsion bar set ups really handle the corners. And Demons/Dusters are the bodystyle to have if you want to run wide tires without doing a lot of cutting. My Duster is running 275/35/18's up front and 295/35/18's out back with almost no body modifications, and only a few bolt on suspension modifications that are necessary for the tires.

My build thread on the Duster is here http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=198098. Most of everything is in there, adding frame connectors and torque boxes, some of my suspension set up, adding the brakes, rims, tires, etc...

Good luck with the project! :glasses7:

Looks like you've got a nice car to start with! Welcome!

Welcome from the tar heel state. Nice looking demon. I have recantly purchased my third demon over the years. Hope you enjoy it.

Welcome. I'm actually the friend who talked him into these. Apparently the ride in my car and getting to sit in the driver's seat was enough. And that was with the stock-ish suspension.

That car is currently a 225 Slant Six/Auto/AC/7.25 car. The car looks to be in great shape other than the rear 1/4's behind the tires and the spare tire well.

Hey that sounds familiar! My car started out as exactly the same thing, minus the AC. :D

Honestly, the more I work on these cars the more I realize that starting with a /6 car isn't all that bad. Sure, the entire drivetrain needs to be replaced, but honestly, if you're going to go past the putt around the block level most of it needs to be at least gone through, if not rebuilt or replaced anyway. Might as well save money up front by getting a nice clean no option, nothing fancy /6 car and build it the way you want it.

Thanks for the warm welcome guy's. I'm interested in checking out your build thread 72blueNblu.

Apparently the /6 in her has a rod knock so she will be coming out soon. I already. Have a v8 k frame and disc brakes T9 put on it.

Nice car. Keep us updated with plenty of pictures! Good luck with your build, it's going to be one sweet ride!

Hey Andy, welcome aboard. You and I must be neighbors, I live right across the lake from Waterford Hills race track. I listen to them race every week end, been here almost 8 years and have never gone to watch. Any how welcome.

Hey 66 Cuda, I live in the south end of Waterford sow we aren't right next to each other. I am sure that I spoke with your friend that owns the Fawn /6 Dart for sale on the board here. I considered buying that car just because a "pro touring" 4 door Dart would have been hilarious.
However, I decided to stick to the 2 door cars and stumbled across this car in Clarkston.

You should certainly come out to a race. It's inexpensive and the view from the hill is very good. Also they have various classics "On The Hill" events through out the season. I do believe they have a Mopar event. I will have to check with some of the officials to find out for sure though.

Andy,

Nice looking ride to enter the MOPAR world! Good luck with your Demon.
