1968 "The First '9' To Get The BO29"

Like most of the racers listed here, Jack Werst is a terrific person. He was always eager to help a "little guy". I knew him only a few days when he invited me over to his house and sold me some parts (more like gave them). I've met all these guys and they were never to busy to talk to a fan.

I saw Jack Werst running his SS/BA at the Indy Nationals in 1968.

Jack had the 'fastest' SS/BA car during Class Eliminations. But in the SS/BA
Class Championship against Chuck Ostrich's {purple} SS/BA Barracuda, Jack had to 'tank it' and let Chuck beat him.

Jack was under 'orders' by the Chrysler Racing Group to purposely lose.

Jack held the SS/BA 'National Record' for a period in the late-Summer of 1968.
