sorry for the dumb question, but i was wondering if any body has done or thought about welding up the holes in the top of the dash?
I ask this because my dash pad is junk and i don't fell like paying 300 for a new one.
It looks like it would be easy to do.
This will be fore my 72/73 duster race car.
Thanks Mopar65

There is a post somewhere on this site with people that have done what your talking. It actually looks pretty good IMO. Do a search and you may find the post. Otherwise someone that has done this should chime in.

what about a cover ?

we put a fiberglass dash in a 70 dart and used a cover to top it off

Don't forget that the reason that semi-soft cover was put on there in the first place was to give your head a soft place to collide into when you're in an accident. Me having older kids that ride in the front seat, I would never go without the pad!! JMO>>>
Good Luck!!

good point but this will be a race car so nobody will be in it except me.thanks mopar65

before you decide to do welding you may want to consider using the 3M body panel epoxy. I did this with all my trim holes that are on the side so I didnt have to worry with metal warp from the heat. Seems to have worked out very well and was easier to work with for finishing.
