Going to manual from power steering

Hello all,
I have a 1975 Duster that was originally a 4 speed 318 car.
The body is getting down to metal for a new paint job.
Interior, engine, trans are out of the vehicle.
I am installing fiberglass front and back bumpers to help the old gal lose some weight.
The engine being installed is a 1969 340 with a mild VooDoo cam, ceramic coated Hooker headers.
My question is I am contemplating going with a 16:1 ratio manual steering box from a power steering setup.
Vehicle seemed to always have a power steering belt screech at high rpm.
From what I research, the factory manual box is 24:1.
I would like to hear from folks that have this box and how they like it.
Other than the $$, good, bad and any surprises.
This car will be a weekend driver.
Thanks in advance
