so i have a 65 dart with a abody 8 3/4. it has a 5x4 bolt pattern. i am going to convert it to 5x4.5 using moser axles. i would like to use a 15x10 wheel. what back spacing are people using?

Hello again fellow Utahn!

I've been hearing that a 4.5 inch BS is typically the maximum magic number.

10 inch wide wheels? How big of a tire are you putting on?

your going to have to do some measuring-- must people are not running a 10" wheels,

7&8" are the norm with 4.25 - 4.5" back space-- 10 puts you in another ball park-- you will need more backspace for sure ,Lawrence

I have a 66 Dart with 15x10" wheels. I think the wheel wells are the same. I moved the springs in 3" and did a mini tub to make room for them. Im not sure you can use a 10" wide without moving the springs and tubbing. Have you actually taken a wheel off and measured for proper back spacing? I highly recommend doing that. By the way, my backspacing is 7.5". If I were to do it over again I would cut the rear housing down at least 2" per side.
Best of luck

I put a 15x7 with a 4" back space under my 66 Dart. With a 225/70 tire there was 1" inside clearance and 1 1/4" outside clearance. You will need to mini tub and move the springs in for a 10" wheel.

that is just what I was thinking I would have to do. I was just hoping to save some money on cutting down the axle. Looks like it might not be as easy as i wanted. I am already planning on moving my springs and mini tubing the car.

Consider going the other way. Radius the wheel wells and 10's out? Check out a few old drag racing pics, thats what they did. Flare the fenders if the 70's look is not your scene.
