The Great White Brick - '69 Valiant

-
Well the Dart Sport is sold, now we can get back to what matters...the Deviant! (and my '65 Barracuda that needs a lot of TLC since it got smashed in Oct.)

The Deviant is out of its winter storage and back in Tom's garage. I spent the winter doing the steering wheel over, but forgot to take photos. I'll get to that in the next couple of days.

wow your build has been a great read, keep up the good work and don't give up!

Not much new, but the wet sanding is just about done. Busy with life and other stuff at the moment...you have to keep the wives happy and make some money sometimes! Can't Mopar all the time!

I have a replacement drivers door, it's blue (the rest of the interior is green). I noticed tonight the vent window lever and the position of the lock button are different on both doors! Is the blue door a '68 or something?

the farther back one is from a 4dr 68

I just read this post all the way through and I have to say you guys did a hell of a job on the Deviant! I bought a 69 Valiant quite a while back that was going to have a fiberglass Demon clip put on it if I hadn't bought it when I did!
Glad too see how well it is coming along, I hope mine gets there someday soon! Keep up the good work!

I can't believe it's been so long. The Deviant got pushed aside. Tom and I both got involved in A100 vans which is great, but we neglected the car.

After the paint job that went orange peel I think Tom lost his ambition on it. Anyway, somewhere along the line he decided to make it 100% Valiant. No more Deviant.

We found a guy who traded the Demon front clip for a Valiant front clip.

What comes next you will never guess.....

I personally sustained an accident on my Harley earlier this year in May. I was minding my own business and got hit by a car. I just about died. I got a broken neck and a badly broken leg. I was very close to becoming a quadraplegic.

Anyway, 6 months later I'm doing better but still off work and limping around with metal in my leg. But this is not the story....

Somewhere in this time Tom decided to give the car to his oldest son Greg, who just finished mechanics school.

Wow. So the two of them have been working on the car day and night. It's done. They did everything. Gregs friend repainted the car, they rounded up all the necessary parts and it's done! I can't believe it.

Here are some cell phone photos Tom sent me. It's beautiful. I asked if I can drive it one day, and I hope Greg will let me. I spent hours under that car scraping off oil and undercoating and treating it and painting it with Master Series. The underside of that car is good enough to eat off.

I will point Greg to this thread and hopefully he will update it sometime. It's his baby now. I'm emotional when I think of this car and the work Tom and I put into. It helped us become friends and taught me so much. It helped Tom get back into cars after a long hiatus and has now been a good catalyst for him and his son to get some wrenching in. Thanks FABO for keeping this thread alive and everyone for the positive encouragement all along the way! -Neil.

Wow Neil. SOunds like you been through a lot. Glad that you are getting better. SO where can we find the thread on the van?

Feel good email of the day! glad this thread has a little closure I always wondered what had happened. The car looks good still wished the Demon clip stayed, but not my car.

65s I had a friend at work hit a deer on his bike one morning. He was thrown into the ditch and after he crawled out of the ditch was hit by a car! He is now fully recovered and back to work. It is amazing the power of modern medicine and the human will! Keep up the hard work and good luck on your continued recovery.

Thanks guys....thread on my van? Oh God that's another whole story too! I have a '65 A100, Tom now has a '66 A100 and another '65 window van he's putting a V8 in. I don't have the energy to document my van but it's a running project I guess you call it. Scooby doo green with Rallyes and a slant 6.

I will post more pics of the Valiant once I get to see it.
