I have a 68 notchback cuda with 72 dart ralleye wheels, what would be the widest tire I could use safely in the rear? Thanks

I have 255/60/15 on my notch. Im sure a 65 would fit but the 75 on mine is too close to chance.

I run the nitto 275/60/15 but I had to add 5/16" spacers to keep them away from the springs , running them on 15 x 8 with a 4 1/2 backspace

I trimmed the lips on my fenders, I run a 285/35/18 on the rear of my 69.

Sorry I forgot to mention my wheels are 14", make a difference?

Pretty sure the biggest you will find for those wheels are the BF Goodrich 245/60/14 , In ran them on all four until I got the 15s for the back , still run them up front but I have rolled lips up front otherwise you can run into problems on the front .

Butting in here... when you folks are saying you have these huge tires on the rear, is that at stock ride height, or is the back raised up?

Or to get to my question, how wide a 14" tire can you run at stock ride height, front or rear? How about 1" lowered? I got a set of vintage 14 x 7 Torquethrusts, and I was thinking 245/60-14. But I like a lower stance.

You can stuff a 255 into the wheel wells and if you have proper back spacing you should have about 1/4" of clearance on each side.

my car ran the 245/6014s at stock ride height no problem , the only issue as I mentioned above is you want to have the rolled lips on the front if you put them there as well , a loval ran them all around without rolling the lips for a couple of years until he hit a bump while cornering and tore up the fender . The 275/60/15s I am running on the back now are at SuperStock height using the SS springs .

Cannucky - I didn't want to roll the lip since I wanted to keep the wheelwell molding. Does your car have the original front brakes? I ask because the 73-up disc conversion widens the track. I have the factory K-H discs.

I have the disc brake conversion but I believe they are the early K-H disc setup and the wheelbase is still stock , but I could be wrong I just know that you risk a problem if the lips aren`t rolled on the front , I have seen the wheelwell moldings trimmed on the flat side and rolled up the inside where the lip is rolled on the fender but thats a tricky one to pull off .

I run a 275/40 on an 18x9.5 with relocated springs and stock tubs. Its a tight fit. I don't have a stock rear end, so I'm working on eliminating the rubbing I have.

Sorry, don't have a good profile pic but running 255 60R15 in the rear with stock suspension. TBH, it's a bit high for me, considering dropping the profile in the back w/ smaller (lower profile) rubber.

mvh, good to see another person from Menlo Park. Can't say I've seen your ride around town. I'd definitely notice another Barracuda, let alone a vintage Mopar, among all the Teslas...

I moved to Menlo in late 2011, but my Barracuda has been in the body shop since November 2012 (and off the road since July 2012), so you didn't have a very long window to catch a glimpse of it. If you want to stop by, I can show you my motor in the carport.
