If the MC top cap has a bulge on the rear that is much larger than the front, your car likely has front disks. In 1971, those would be the highly-valued Kelsey-Hayes disks, so jump for joy. More likely, you have equal bumps on the cover, which means front drums. You then need to know whether 9" or 10" drums. Most V-8's had 10". Look at the spindle and compare to photos here. The 10" spindle has a centered goose-neck, whereas it is on the side in 9".
