My DD is a 2014 ram 3500 6.7L diesel high output dually Crew cab with a 8' bed. I love it, still average 17+mpg and current mileage is usually over 20mpg. Course mines still a baby at 21000 miles, can't wait to have it broken in at 100,000 miles then gas mileage gets better.
bought the 95 3500 cummins new . ext cab, yes long bed, 4:10 gears, auto 179,000 most pulling a big gooseneck.
I thought about selling it 3-4- years ago, glad no one wanted it... now i'm waiting for diesel to get below $3.00 LOL!!!!
This is a fairly old picture, but this is my 07 Mega Cab 4x4. 4 1/2" Fabtech suspension lift with 35's. I just put a new set of Nitto's on it and it also has a bull bar (not pictured).
I WANNABE a Ram owner. Hopefully down the road. Here is my brothers new 2014 3500. Very sweet. It is nicknamed the "Bearcat" in honor of my dad. You can't really see it, but the mud flaps say Bearcat in bold blue letters. ;-)
Probably worse than anyone else. lol Much of my driving is short trips and the terrain around here is pretty hilly and curvy. Average driving in the summer I get upper 18s. It will do around 20 if I go any distance. Towing the trailer (which is heavy duty) hauling a vehicle or my tractor (which has a loader and brush cutter) will knock it down to 15-16. Winter gas also knocks 2-3 mpg off of these figures.
I always manually figure mileage. This truck doesn't have the 'mileage computer'. My '03 Cummins truck did but I called it the 'liars board'. It would state my average mileage was 23 but figuring it manually the real average was 17. :wack:
Here's a pic of the '03 Cummins truck. 6 speed, 4.10 gears.
Dallas
Here's my '98 and '04.5 at the same time before i sold the '98 to a friend.
The '04.5 is a CTD/auto/3.73 gear and only has 40k miles on it. Has a nice low white cap on it now. Don't drive it much as the best mileage i've calculated NOT loaded or towing is 14mpg........SUCKS was expecting high teens, low 20's????????
Consume beer.
Stretch the frame 20.5"
I cut the frame above the rear axle.
Unbolted the front bolt of the rear leaf springs.
Roll the whole assembly back.
Consume more beer.
Weld in 6X2X.25" rectangular steel tubing. (Factory frame rails are 10 gauge 1/8)
Relocate factory front spring hangers, setting ride height and pinion angle.
The factory drive shaft is a two piece unit.
Simply move the carrier bearing back 20.5" (to keep the rear shaft angles correct) and have a new front section made.
The flexible rubber brake hose can be replaced with one designed for a lifted truck.
Beer, SawZall and a Mig Welder..... You can do anything......
2014 1500 Crew Outdoorsman with V6 and 8 speed. Love the truck. 300 Hp V6 is more than I need. 21 mpg highway, 17 or so combined. My only mods are tri-fold bed cover, and runnings boards. Never had a short box before. Bought a receiver extension for hauling longer loads that works well enough. Factory stereo needs no upgrade. Can't think of anything I would rather be driving.
