fuel filter hose question

Hey all Happy Holidays,

just changed the oil in my '69 318 for the first time since I got her and when I fired it up after I found that fuel was spraying from the hose connecting to the fuel filter. The filter itself was replaced less than 3k miles ago. I plan on disconnecting the hose although I didn't see any cracks it does appear to be spraying out at the hose connection.

My question is most people seem to think that you have to replace the fuel filter anytime you might change the hose. Problem here is I would need to order a fuel filter online and I am talking several weeks to get it shipped to me way out here. If it is just a hose/connection issue no need to replace the filter you think? Realize that it might seem a simple question but I am coming to DIY mechanics late in life so I am a novice......

thanks! :???:
