How do you change the headlights on a 72 Swinger? This is what it says in the manual:

"1 Remove the headlight bezel.
2 Remove screws from interior retaining ring,
and remove ring. Do not disturb headlight aimer
screws.
3 Pull out sealed beam unit and unplug con
nector, pulling straight off.
4 Install new sealed beam unit.
5 Install unit retaining ring.
6 Aim the headlight and install headlight bezel."
This all good. But there's a grill in the way. Do I have to take the grill off?
See pic
And do I need to remove these "plugs?" See second pic.

Remove the four screws holding the grill surround on around the headlight. Then follow what you already typed.

See in the 2nd pic, the bezel is a separate piece from the center grille? It's held in with 4 long screws on the front. Remove those 4, then remove the bezel. Then you'll see a chrome ring surrounding your headlight, it will have 3 screws. Only unscrew them enough to twist that chrome ring, basically "unlocking" it. The headlight will have a harness plugged onto it on the back side.

the plug holds the grille. Looks like your bumper has been TWEAKED. there is usually 1" of space between the the grille for the bezel to slide out. a side view photo of the bumper will show the placement of the correct location of the bumper in relation to the fender and there by match the grille.
very weak design for the bumper by Dodge so the bumper brackets move in even though no physical damage
