Caution - Tale of a long distance slacker

-
I haven't been on here to long yet but I have already bought a few parts from members. All have been great to deal with and I would again with out a doubt. It's great to see people post their bad dealings here to warn everyone of the bad apples. It's just a damn shame that people get ripped off so much anymore. Cazbah, I hope your able to get your money back and help send a message to this low-life about what can happen if he keeps this crap up.

I strongly urge you to call the Police Department in his town as I suggested earlier. Its a small town and I bet they know him. Maybe a detective will go down there and have a chat with him. Its worth a phone call.

So unfortunately it appears that I also got taken by this guy. I just talked to Officer Cox at the Chillicothe Police Department. It sounds like user Richardlane has a brother that is probably helping him out with this scam. From what I can tell, user Richardlane is probably Cory Lane and his brother is Chance Copp. I'm not 100% positive on this but the police department knew his name immediately along with his brother (they didn't call his brother out by name).

According to Officer Cox, the normal process is to file a report with your local police department and they will contact the Chillicothe Police Department. Office Cox also mentioned that we will likely need to file a lawsuit against Cory Lane (and likely his brother). If we each do it individually that would cost far more than the parts we bought. If we go together as a group we can all be represented by one attorney and bring our individual costs down.

I have a number of attorneys I have worked with over the years so if any of you are interested in joining together to sue this guy send me a PM and we'll get it started. I don't have any hope of getting my money back but I am willing to spend more than what this jerk took me for in order to teach him a lesson and keep it from happening to others in the future.

Here is the info for local police department if you want to give them a call:
Chillicothe Police Department
Police Department
28 North Paint Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601
(740) 773-1191

Contact your local sheriff dept and fill out a report to see if your local prosecutor can file charges .They will contact the police in chillicothe. They should go talk to these guys and tell them they had better make it right or possible charges can be filed. That is how i got my money from ply30.Chillicothe police probably wont do any thing until your pa or local police talk to them

It also turns out he's on probation... If the police don't get you anywhere, call his probation officer.

This in a heartbeat! Call his PO. They will not look kindly on this and don't have the hoops to jump through that the PD do.

Oh yeah, that's a good avenue.

Man, it amazes me some people can't shovel fast enough to dig their own hole.

It would be beneficial to everyone here if he were brought to justice. There could be a fundraiser to help.
Then a notice could be placed on the site warning deadbeats that this is not the place to do their dirty work.

I'm wondering if there is a thread or sticky somewhere with a list of known scammers?

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Such a list would be of no use. These kinds of people donthang around long before they switch usernames. Thats why they want to be contacted by email.

There is a member on here with the username of

Richardlane

He was selling a few parts and a car and mentioned he would set up a paypal account and he sounded pretty legit ... Until I saw this thread and saw that he is from ohio and when he emailed me it said his name was chancecopp

It also looks like he's active here ....
