This is our latest evolution of our 360 Classic Cruiser. I always strive to improve on our builds, and our Base Line CC are no exception. The very first one I ever did made 350HP. Then we tweaked it a little and got 365, 375, 380, and now after some more tweaking we got this little bundle of joy. Im using the same cam, same style stock heads, crank, rods, damper, balance style(external), carb. The final tweaks here are different pistons(little higher compression, 9.3 from 8.8), intake(Crosswind from Action Plus) and some chamber mods.

Now for the numbers. HP peak 420HP @ 5450RPM TQ peak 426TQ @ 4250rpm. Seems a little high in the rpm band for peak torque, but its not a stroker. And it had 400+TQ from 3000-5500RPM!

Total timing was 32*! BSFC was .355-.450! A/F was 12.7-13.0! V/E 90+%!

It runs super smooth. Pulled 18in vacuum at idle and is real quiet, but with a super Mellow tone.

All this, CARB TO OIL PAN w/Ignition system, dyno run for cam break-in and power tuning for less than $6000!!!!!!!

Looks great!! Are those arp studs for the windage tray? I bought a set and when they are set to the bottom there was no room for the nut, did you have this same issue?

Wow! Nice package! Kinda wish I wasn't so close to havingy 360 finished!

And for heads, are you running iron smog heads, 587s, Magnums?!

Any hints on cam specs?

nope, stock windage tray main bolts drilled and taped for short 5\16 studs

old 70s 360 heads. 284 duration .480 lift.

Very nice.

What pistons do you use for the 9.3 compression?

I think my engine building days may be done. Even doing the majority of your own work and assembly it would be pretty easy to build an engine that costs almost that much and doesn't perform nearly that well.

Good job Mike!

Mike, your shop isn't dirty enough. You must not be working hard enough.... LOL!

The block still has the old paint on it.Do you not hot tank the blocks before you rebuild them?

Great build. It proves you don't need 300 duration and .500+ lift to make power. (and be hard on the valve train) tmm

What would it cost if I sent in a pair of 587s for the same magic port work treatment?

No "Hot Tanks" around here anymore. We do bake and blast when they are rusty or real nasty. This block had been built before and was very clean when I got it. It got a power wash and scrub before and after machine work.
