FABO Mentor Program ... Another Young Guns Idea from The CudaChick

-
Sitting here right now thinking about two things

my 67 dart and the 2002 c5 corvette suspension sitting in my girlfriends garage

I wanna put two and two together. Well. This is where I'm stuck

Where do I start? I need Someone who can help. I need a second hand here
I dream big I know. But I'm willing to do this if I could

That's a pretty radical concept, I'm sure it can be done if you have some mad fab skills... I think I'd start by laying out a square tube frame that would fit the darts wheelbase to mount all the c5 suspension on, I'd figure on cutting out most of the darts unibody frame, I've never attemped to stick a 2005 corvette suspension under a mopar.. Researce some similar builds where people have used the c5 suspension on unibody cars.. Know all the work, cost and man hours involved before you start cuttin on the dart.. Maybe you can find someone to help you that dreams big also...

Little bump draft to the top for the weekend ... :-D

Let's get these kids some help with their projects!

wow sounds like just what i need! id be in, my dart is rediculously slow as far as gettin stuff on it. i have a nice driver mirror i got from a member here 2 months ago an have yet to insall!

What is taking so long to get it installed?

hey im in,and it can be any make, anything to get the kids into real hot rods!Looking to have a group of cars run wed. nite drags. Will help anybody! would hope others would do the same.

Hahaha. Im definately in to learn under someone close-by, I need all the help possible. You can count this YG in for sure!!!! =DD. Even though i dont have a car at the moment, Im always willing to lend a hand. =]

I just started a thread. Myself being 18, I want to know who's other rides are out there. This thread is one of the many that encouraged me to make a thread !

I know this is an old thread. Did anything ever become of this. I think it's still great idea. I would still be willing to help a "young gun" out with his Mopar project, or any make.

This is a good idea. We don't need to let it fall apart.

I'm currently helping one of our young guns, but from 4 states away! Wish he lived closer, but I met him and his wife at the Nats this year, and we hung out with Kegan too! These young guns are helping me as much as I try to help them! They have great ideas for their cars, and mine, and their starting to open the eyes of this old dog! Wish I had Caleb and Kegan for neighbors, they're both top notch gentlemen!! Heck, Kegan should be a mentor, he's super knowledgeable!! Can we clone these 2 guys and spread them around the US?? I would have much more faith in the youth of today if they were all like these guys, and gals!!! Geof

Xs2 Caleb is awesome and has some great ideas ....when chatting with him, its easy to forget that he is so young. So much responsibility and sense in someone so young

I'm delighted to see this old thread back in action again! :-D I've often wondered if it ever worked out for anyone and it seems like it has.

They're the future of our hobby and without them to carry it on, it's gonna die a slow and painful death. Thanks Young Guns, Young Huns and all the 'older rifles' who've helped along the way.

You should be mentoring our young guns as well Rani!! Your experience and knowledge are second to none!! And since you're young yourself, it would mean so much more as you help someone along, when they see someone who is in their age range who has done it and is willing to share!! You are certainly welcome in my dream neighborhood!!! Geof

Anyone on Vancouver Island is welcome to be in touch with me for help, parts, suggestions, specialty tools,, and hands on help to get thru what-evers holding you up,, including a kick in the seat of the pants if nec, what-ever it takes to get your blood pumping,, .. lol .. cheers

season's best

I've been helping a guy out with advice and help for years now....only thing wrong....he's a Chevy guy!!! lol

At 24 I'm not as young as some of the young guns on here but I can always learn more and there are a lot of members around me.

If there are any younger members then me in cincinnati that are new to the hobby I would be more then happy to help them out with anything I can. If I can't figure it out I can always get ahold of people that can too. ;)

Check out my thread everybody. I made one for all the young guns to go to to display their rides and a lil info on it that way we can represent for the youngins. I saw this thread and knew I had to start it back up !

24 is not bad .....I am 28 now and I was your age when I joined FABO....the time flies too fast.

:violent2:

My buddy rockerdude is a young gun and should be here.

Adam and I bounce a lot of ideas off each other and he keeps me going with the wagon project because he has a wagon too.

Any of our young guns around the southeast feel free to get in touch with me. I will be glad to help.

I never saw this thread... I added a pin and I'm open to help. I have no natural kids of my own, and my two step kids have no interest in anything technical. I can do everything but glass replacement. If they need glass work I can't help but have a good glass guy...lol.

I have been helping PanGasket off and on for a for years now. I showed him how to put ball joints in his truck. He is going to lower it next and I expect to help with that too. There's no lowering kit available for the D100 trucks, so you have to piece this and that together to make it happen. I have already given him most of the parts. If weren't 3 hours or so away, we could get it don pretty easily. He's a sharp kid too. All I have to do is show him how and he takes right off the first time.

Moper I am like you although I do have a son. Cars were the farthest thing from his mind. All he wanted to do was play video games 24 hours a day. Since he now lives in Phoenix, he really has no possibility of becoming interested around me. A shame really.

That would be me, I'm 23 and I've been here since 2007. Ive learned a ton, and continue to learn everyday I surf around on here.

Geof, you are FAR too kind!!! But I must say the "dream neighborhood" is soundin nice!! When y'all movin to ky?? :D Marge an I were discussing some about your comment and we both said that everyone's faith in humanity would go up if we could clone YOU!! You my friend are a swell guy and an awesome mentor!! And as far as kegan goes, you're absolutely right, he could be a mentor, himself!! We text quite a bit and he's definitely taught me a few things! The guy knows his option codes like no one I've met!! I've definitely met some great and helpful ppl on this forum! Hope that someday I can be a mentor to someone like you've been to me, Geof! Thanks a ton!!

And Rani, thanks for the kind words as well! It's been great gettin to know you! Hopefully someday I'll know some of the things you know and be able to weld half as good as you!:D you're mechanical skills put many guys to shame! It's rather impressive!!

Rani has been here 4 years?
G's, time does fly!
