Just about anything is better than a worn out BBD on the factory iron intake. The Streetmaster with a Holley 600 will be fine. A bit old school, but just fine. If you are still running the factory 318 cam, you probably won't notice much difference between different intakes anyhow. Which brings up another point: Since you'll have the intake off, why not do a cam/lifter swap. A stock replacement 340 cam would be hard to be from a "bang for the buck" perspective. Cheap, good power and torque, cheap, nice street manners, cheap, easy on the valvetrain, cheap, good fuel economy, cheap, affordable, and cheap.
