Wondering what others do. Last time the chopper was running I pulled the air cleaner off and sprayed some fogging oil into the karbonator. Shut it off, put the filter back on, put it on the lift and pushed it into the back of the garage. Once a month or so I pull the plugs and give each cylinder a healthy squirting prior to rotating the crank 180*. First start up in the spring is always a bit smoky.....

I'll bet it is a bit smokey after all that stuff evaporating down and getting all built up in there over the winter.
Might try just giving it a shot in the cyls just before the first startup after it sits without running and it should only smoke for a couple of minutes and be done.
Nothing bad is going to happen to a cylinder from sitting for a few months unless it sat outside that whole time, then maybe.

With our sleds, we fog them while running like you did, but shut the fuel off to them. So they run until they are out of gas. Then we siphon out the tank and the little bit we cant get we dump in a stabilizer. Never had a problem doing it that way.

i bet the skeeters aint happy in the springtime lol
thing is so rich the skeeters ain't happy any ways....

Part of the shut down ritual, even if it will be started the next day is to turn the fuel off and let it run the karbanater dry. Every karbed scooter I have ever owned I shut them off this way..had a float hang up one day and it emptied the tank out.....was out in the sticks when it happened.....

Used to do similar when I parked the Mopars for the winter...tranny fluid down the carb, then pinch the fuel line Friggin smoke like a ****. Helped coat the exhaust
