Some people

...ARE AWESOME.

Sometimes I feel like integrity and honesty are all but gone. It sometimes seems like most people would just as soon screw you over as look at you, if the opportunity presented itself.

But today I got to be on the receiving end of a very good experience. A friendly customer came in to my store with his credit card (I wasn't in at the time) and told my wife he owes us $3,044.25!

Apparently when I ran his card a few weeks ago, I ran it for $30.75 instead of $3,075.00

I didn't catch the error on my end, but when he got his statement from the cc company, he caught it. Now let me just say, this man was in his sixties, dressed in his denim over-alls, gray beard and hair, driving on older pickup. I certainly didn't think he looked the part of a wealthy person. Nor did I peg him as an honest man with genuine integrity. But I did take a liking to him though, cuz he was a friendly person.

When I found out that he came in and payed the difference, I called him and thanked him profusely. That amount of money going missing would have really hurt financially. I couldn't thank him enough. What he told me was "it was the only thing I COULD do, the RIGHT thing".

I'm thinking of giving him a couple gift certificates to some steak dinners or something. He has restored my faith in humanity!

Mark, that's an outstanding idea, I would have to do the same. And shake his hand while doing it.
