...ARE AWESOME.

Sometimes I feel like integrity and honesty are all but gone. It sometimes seems like most people would just as soon screw you over as look at you, if the opportunity presented itself.

But today I got to be on the receiving end of a very good experience. A friendly customer came in to my store with his credit card (I wasn't in at the time) and told my wife he owes us $3,044.25!

Apparently when I ran his card a few weeks ago, I ran it for $30.75 instead of $3,075.00

I didn't catch the error on my end, but when he got his statement from the cc company, he caught it. Now let me just say, this man was in his sixties, dressed in his denim over-alls, gray beard and hair, driving on older pickup. I certainly didn't think he looked the part of a wealthy person. Nor did I peg him as an honest man with genuine integrity. But I did take a liking to him though, cuz he was a friendly person.

When I found out that he came in and payed the difference, I called him and thanked him profusely. That amount of money going missing would have really hurt financially. I couldn't thank him enough. What he told me was "it was the only thing I COULD do, the RIGHT thing".

I'm thinking of giving him a couple gift certificates to some stake dinners or something. He has restored my faith in humanity!

that's awesome. there are too many people in this world that would have ran right out and spent another 3000 somewhere else lol

The world would be a better place. Put a little extra in the collection plate, and let him know.

Mark, that's an outstanding idea, I would have to do the same. And shake his hand while doing it.

Nice to see some integrity, left out there.. A couple of gift certs, are a great idea.

Wow, that's awesome!

Years ago we noticed when people were dishonest because it didn't happen too often.

Now-a-days we take notice when people are honest because we just don't expect it. Too bad the world has come to that!:wack:

Sad isn't it?

Sad but true...

There is still a glimmer of hope for society, albeit a dim one, but it's still there.

No EOD reconciliation? Might want to consider doing one every day. Hope the IRS isn't reading. :)

Nice to read that the customer came in, honest guy.

now, think about the rioters and looters, using all this obama induced crap just to steal for the most part.

i think thats the least ya can do. thats a pretty big screw up on your part..

There are honest people in the world. Too bad we are older generation folks. It takes a real man to come back and pay the difference even thou you messed up.

There are a lot of good people in this world, unfortunately, the media focuses on "bad guy" stories, and makes us wonder where have all the good people gone? Glad you had a 1st hand experience

If I get a chance to do this, I'd like to point him to this thread, and let him read all your great comments. I think we all agree, he is an outstanding man to have done this. BTW, he goes by the name "Jake".

Good man there !! I'm sorry to say that they are far and few between.

In this world of the me me me and the ill mannered, that man should get a trophy.

Jeff

That's really cool.
Last night, I was at a bar watching some friend's band play. A girl came off the dance floor and a wad of folded money fell out of her pocket and landed on the floor about 10 feet in front of me. There was another guy in between her and me that watches it happen and watched her walk back to her table then he looked at the money, then scanned around to see if anyone else was watching. He was obviously going to pick it up and keep it, or it sure looked that way to me at least. Before he could do that I jumped in front of him and grabbed it and went and handed it back to the girl. She was overwhelmed with surprise that I gave it back to her and said it was all the money she had on her, roughly $100.00.

She said something similar to me, that it was really nice to know there are still some good people out there.
It felt good to me to see how happy I made her and was great way to end out 2014!

Thanks for sharing this! Someone should start a thread for positive experiences. It happens more then we think. They just get over shadowed by all the whining and negativity!
