I feel bad for the guy.

Be sure to pass this along.

I just went and organized mine.

One other thing that I did a while back is put all of each type of junk in a quart ziploc bag. Screws in one, markers in another, etc. I still dig through it, but when I need something, I'm digging through large bags of similar items. I end up taking the whole bag out to find exactly what I want and then when I'm done, the bag ends up getting tossed back into the drawer. Saves me a lot of headache without having to spend a lot of time finding new homes for all of the junk and it has yet to become disorganized, a half of a year later or so.

I knew about the ability for a 9v to start a fire, but it never dawned on me that multiple 9v batteries would ultimately get put in series, laying on their sides against something metal (like the wall of a stainless toolbox, or other tools, like a carpenter's knife, staple gun or a piece of hardware) and could take quite a bit of time to generate a sufficient amount of heat to set something off, meaning just an hour or so after rifling through a drawer or container, it could blaze up, unattended.

Wow, I'm gonna go in my junk drawer right now and look, I have a container where I store batteries and some are loose mixed in with other junk, and I'm sure I have some 9 volts in the mix, thanks Dave for passing this info on and seperating the junk in bags like ou did is also a great idea :glasses7:

I wonder if this is how the wives tale of "store your batteries in the freezer" came to fruition?

Wintertime I pack a survival kit in my trunk, carryover from when I was stationed in S Dakota. I pack 9 volt batteries and steel wool as fire starter, along with other stuff. Not a bad idea when you drive in areas that are pretty desolate, like the western US.

One day I felt a small pain, thought it was a thorn in my pants. Turned out to be "I think" a AAA battery in my pocket had "hooked up" just right with my keys and heated "stuff" up in my pocket.
