I found this pretty solid old 4 door and after driving it a while, decided it was worth making a few changes. So here we go.

Finished the engine swap from a slant six to the 318 with a A833 OD in front of the 3:91 sure grip rear end. Just got a new paint job and now I'm starting on the interior. Going to install a new headliner, first time to do something like this but I've got to try it see how it turns out...

I received my new headliner yesterday and started tearing out the old liner and insulation. I really think that is the hardest part of this job, it's nasty...#-o.
I worked all day (well, most all day) and you'll see there's fast and then there's ... half fast ...
but I did do it by my self.

I did get the headline up and hanging for the night and maybe most of the wrinkles will be out of it tomorrow.

Nice car...and some nice work you've done to it! :prayer: when you get down to chasing the wrinkles in the corners and curves of that headliner, a steamer wand will help a lot. Sometimes you can use a steam iron, but just don't touch it to the headliner since it's probably some type of vinyl. Keep up the good work.

Never seen that two tone paint on a 65 Dart. Can you shoot a picture of the chrome moulding and how it goes between the White and blue?

Still working on the headliner, it's got cold and harder to keep everything warm.
I'll take some more pic shortly and also get some of the two tone paint, and these are the original paint colors.

Another days work .... still got wrinkles even after heat gun and heat lamps.... maybe the next ..LOL :happy7::... will be better, maybe warm weather later on will improve my wrinkles...

headliners are hard, especially in cold weather. hear guns .... but ya gotta be REAL careful. in summer, lay it on roof AND LET IT RELAX. but this time of year, HA! I've done 6-8 years back and always had trouble at the c pillar unless it had a cardboard covered piece there.
I think we will see lots more mo dor's a bodys for the people that actually drive their cars!!! show us more!

Here's a few more pics of paint. The colors are original to the car, a med aqua and light blue. I forgot the actual names of colors but it's what matched the fender tag paint numbers.

Not a bad attempt at the head liner…you’ve just been too gentle with it! More tension is needed out to the sides, if you haven’t put the screens back in have another go….release the liner around the sides and work it out from the centre pulling the seams tighter…good luck!

just seen you do have the screens in...too late!!

So nice with the new paint...I realized my mouth was hanging open from the surprise of it...good to see 4 drs being appreciated, thank you.

My kinda guy,a DIY'er. Sometimes you don't have the bread, to have a pro to do it, gotta respect that. Nice color combo.

You've done a great job on it! Will turn out beautiful. BTW, thanks for the pictures. I've never seen those mouldings on the quarter panel with two-tone paint.

Here's some more pics of the my mo do mopar, the headliner really does look better than the pictures or at least better than what I started with. I think the next time I'll wait till summer before I do another headliner... but it's like I told another buddy looking at it and pointing out the wrinkles.... It's my headliner and my wrinkles...

It takes time , for a new guy. Enjoy the learning curve, and the ride.

Awesome car! its goo to actually see somebody else with a 4 door HA, im in the middle of restoring one too. 65 dart 270 4 door. i wish mine was in as good of shape to start with! it sat on the edge of the gifford pinchot national forest here in Washington for 20 years! it was a little rough but 100% complete at least lol

like he said, you can take it loose and work it some more, better in hot weather.
there's a bodyman near here, that sews his own upholstery and headliners. he told me one day, he has ordered made headliners, that he took somewhat apart and resewed in the parts cause it would not go in right as they stitched it!!! LOL!
great looking car and it will be fun AND interesting!!!!!

Finally, got it out for a drive. Still have a few details left to work on, like the door panels and heater control. I still have the wrinkles in my headliner but for a guy nearly 70 years old and arthritis it ain't to bad a job but I won't be doing another headliner install.

Here a few more pics.

It looks real great. I wish more would take care of their 4-doors cars as you did. They deserve that. :burnout:

Hats off!
