Hi guys new to the site, big mopar fan here, got a Duster with a 440 that I want to get into bad bought it in April, its got big valves and port work (Iron heads), and a comp .550 cam, 3500 stall convertor, I want to make it nastier than it is, but right now I have to finish restoring my truck, and in the process, I am putting a big block over in it. This is my first rodeo inside a Chrysler big block. My original plan before the Duster was stroke it out and make a big motor, but now I just want it to run and be a decent pulling street engine. The bottom end is a stock 11,000 mile 1975 motorhome engine clean as whistle when I cracked it open, it was a double roller chain engine, I hear not all had that, six pack rods and all. The engine has no valve reliefs, and from what I hear most of those engines ran in the low 8s on compression, I have a set of 440 source heads, that I gasket matched the ports intake and exhaust, and straighten the intake runners up, I put a lunati voodoo cam in it, hydraulic adv dur 262/268,.475/494 lift 1400-5700 rpm operating range, I used a edelbrock performer that I gasket matched the ports as well, topped off with a summit 750 carb. I plan to use hooker competition longtube headers also. I was wondering what kind of power do you guys think the engine will make, I know there are many variables, but what kind of ball park could I expect, I imagine, going from an 88cc head to an 80cc the compression should be in the 9's. Thanks for any input.

Do a quick search. If I remember correctly, someone on this site did a dyno test of a low compression big block with various parts and made a good amount of horsepower with it.

IQ52 wrote that post/thread on the low compression.

Doing a similar top end build on my `74 low comp .030 bore basically stock bottom end in good shape. Have a set of bare 440 Source heads at Hughes getting prep and milling should end up close to 10:1 w/ Felpro gaskets. Have Proparts headers, Eddy RPM intake, Holley 750 2x pumper, MSD, planning to go with a Comp Hydraulic K Kit thinking at least a 550 lift (?). Stock rockers. Realistically looking for 450 HP w/ tuning.....Opinions welcome and good luck Dusted U Bad.....

Got a fresh coat of paint on her today, 100 pounds lighter and the look of a stocker. I had to go thru the ringer with paint stripper and foam sanding block to get the valve covers to look new.

chrysler used the 413 throu 1965 in cars. but used them throu early 70s with low CR pistons in big truck / motor homes. with , dish pistons. they will bolt into a car 413, 10 cr. the truck pistons changed it to 7.5 cr. bolt in, balance no change. but not cheap nor the rings. i am guessing they did same with the 440. may be
