At the last show i was at I started to shut my hood and when I pulled down on it I heard an extremely loud BAM like a gun going off .......afterwards my hood on drivers side will not shut flush with fender .......I have removed the splash panel to look at hinge and watched hood go up and down and I don't see anything wrong, well broken anyway. What am I missing,:banghead: the hinge is a little worn out it kinda slides along fender when opening and closing, but still moves freely. It is a little hard to pull down right at first if it is fully open after that its easy. Does anyone make new hinge assembly, complete with springs ? John

Look at the coil spring on the hinge, dollars to donuts it popped off. There is a hook, if you will, on the outside of the coil and it hooks over the pin at the bottom of the hinge.

It needs to be put back on and a push nut reinstalled.

Ill check that out ....I didn't see anything when I looked the first time, but I wasn't looking specify looking for something like this ........ would the spring keep the hood from going down flush with the fender ?

It did mine when it popped off.

See if the spring popped off where I have the arrow pointing.

You should be able to see it by opening the door, or if you have the splash shield off.

OK Thank's ........ Ill get over there tomorrow and check that out.

Also look closely if that isn't it to see if the spring didn't break.

If it is just popped off, you can get it back on with the fender on, but be warned, it's a booger. You'll need the splash shield off and the door open, between the two openings it can be done. An extra set of hands would help immensely.

Vice grips and a small pry bar, you might get er on there.

Then you need a push nut to go over the end of that pin to keep it from popping off again. Think the little metal type cap that holds wheels onto kids toy with axles. It taps on and has little tangs on the inside that grip the pin.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input...... I looked at it yesterday., ill take pics next time I am there but every thing looks like your pic...... I dont see anything broken but I know something is wrong. ...I just am not seeing it. I have digging into why my brakes are not working. ..... no power to the fuse box. .... driving me crazy. Had the car 20 years this is the first real electric problem I have had
