Damn!!! Nice!!!! Wish my car was that far!!!!!!!!!!!!:protest:

Thanks SNKEBIT! I appreciate the kind words. just finished clear coating!!!!!!!!!
Shinny now. four coats of clear, then it's time to wet sand. Starting with 800 then 1200, after that it'll be time for three more coats of clear. then 400 wet sand, and buff the bajeezus out of it. I hope I sleep tonight. L.O.L!!!!!
Here are some shinny pictures.

After the clear was applied it did darken it up a bit. I like it!
I also like the way it looked matte finished with just the base color. It made it look more like a muscle car, but I'll love the shinny look just the same.
When it's all buffed out, I'll be playing around with some ideas for matte black stripes of some sort. I'm not sold on the rocker panel stripes.
Here's some more car ****!

No problem putting it back together with care. Lots of tape and patience. besides, i have had this car torn down and re assembled more times than I could possibly count.
Every time I made a new panel for it, I put it all back together to be sure it all fit and that the body lines were nice and tight and even. It's the money part that always has my son and I stumbling. We have spent less than $4,000 including the purchase of the car, which was $1,200 two years ago. All work so far has been done in house by my so, by brother and myself. I hope the car will get build for under $8,000.
I just need interior soft goods and a few pieces of trim. Oh, and a million other odds and ends. L.O.L!!!!!!

Looks sweet!

One step closer, going to be a nice ride.

Thanks all!
I am pretty excited to take her on her maiden voyage.
I'm hoping to be able to drive it in another year. It's going to be difficult to have patience
in not hurrying up the process.
The results so far are amazing to me since this our first real COMPLETE car build. (both my son and I) Lots of memories for the both of us to share. I have to thank my brother for his help too.

Well, If it doesn't look good enuf then now's the time to gett it good enuf.

I had a issue with strips in the color. so off it came.
we figured out the new gun and sprayed it again. WOW! What a difference....

My son helped me with getting the rear end bolted back up as well

I think this car has been blocked out, wet sanded and buffed out now seven times of more. It looks awesome now.
Next update will have the engine all painted up, bolted to the K-member and rolled under the front end. See you soon!

Thanks 67!
Hows your wiring nightmare going?
I'm afraid I'll be neck deep in it myself soon. Only difference will be mine is a new harnes
from Ron Fracis.

I'm finishing up putting it back together. We've got all new M&H wiring in that Roadrunner. If I learned anything it's that I'd bundle and label any unused wiring that was intended for accessories that aren't there. It looks like the guy that had installed the new harness connected some of the 'unused wiring' so that it dead ended with power in it and no place to go other than ground. I would rather have seen that wiring isolated from a power source.

I bought a Ron Francis harness for my 'glass T-bucket back in the 70s. It was nice. - Everything was labeled. - Pretty basic generic switches. I don't think they made replacement original harnesses for cars back then. Are all of the connectors the same as O.E.M.? The M&H harness conforms to fit all of the original mounting locations and hold down straps. I can't fault it. Every connector is an exact match to the factory ones.

BTW. Did you ever decide on a stripe?

I think I'm going to leave it for now and experiment with tape to see how I like or dislike the ideas. And unfortunatly, my wiring kit does NOT have the dash connectors. I;ll solder my old connector in. I've never liked the pins on the circuit boards on these A bodies. Seems like all it takes is to look at it the wrong way and they break off

YO, this is cawley. I have to say vinyl flat black stripes. Painted- dark charcoal good luck with it

Body is looking fantastic!

A short update to share.
My engine was supposed to be installed by now and pictures shown, but after all my changes and adjustments. I don't like the way it runs.
I am going to put a smaller cam and lifters in it.
I thought I liked the heavy rumble and the extra horses but I did a last run on the stand two days ago and I cant get it to idle lower than 2000 RPM's. The cam is just to big and I can't get it to come down and still keep running. It lopes so heavy, it sounds like a Gasser.
I want a nice cruzer with some spunk but I can't get that with the cam I'm running. The duration is crazy!! What was I thinking? If I remember right the duration is 530.
So, I decided NOT to install the engine from the bottom, but instead go ahead and install the K-member and suspension to make it a roller again so I can get it out of the paint booth as I need to get other items painted up and ready to install. Such as the front skirt, trunk hinges, interior trim and the dash.
I'll post pictures soon as I get them off my phone. I'm back at it tomorrow to torque everything to spec's and maybe roll her in the sun and get a few shots in real lighting.
That is if the rain holds off long enough....:eek:ops:

Before you do that....

Actual cam specs, timing specs(initial and total). Spray something around intake and carb base to check.for vacuum leaks.

It might need tuning. 530 ?....lift maybe not duration.
