what's everybody doing about insuring your cars? I called haggerty and got a quote for $249/yr for a 18k guaranteed replacement for a 68 notch fish.
is this good or not?
anybody have bad blood with haggerty?
any advice will be appreciated

That is who I am dealing with also. No claims either. Best I can tell you is get a few other quotes from other insurers and that will be your answer.

Reason I like Haggerty is I can drive my car to destinations other than car shows. I like taking my car to my friends house who lives a few towns away. I am covered in doing this. With some other companies, not so much.

I've been happy with Grundy Worldwide. Started at $257 (2010) for $35K replacement. Up to $317 now. No particular restrictions other than it can't be a daily driver.

They call in "inflation guard" protection with an annual increase of 4% each year. Wasn't aware of it when I first signed-on.

Little hard to find a definition but from one of their pages:

The Inflation Guard on Standard Collector Car Policies

Grundy collector car policies have a built in Inflation Guard, which in recent years has automatically increased the insured value of your vehicle(s) by 4%. This increase is shown on your policy at each renewal and is reflected in a small premium increase for the added coverage. (N.Y., Mass. and S.C. policies do not currently include the Inflation Guard.)

Although the Inflation Guard works adequately to cover the increased cost of repair and market appreciation on most cars, extremely rare and valuable cars are often appreciating much faster than other collectors in the market place. For this reason, many of Grundy's large collectors are provided a "Collections Policy" which provides "peace of mind" and up to 150% of the value at which their car is insured.

I could certainly be wrong but I wouldn't be too surprised if most specialty policies didn't increase some from year to year - like health insurance. :(

I have Haggerty. Have had 2 claims, Windshield and chassis damage. Both handled quickly. No problems. Great customer service.

Hagerty as well was a hassle to get though as we only have 1 other car between the wife and I ( not worth having a second as we are only in the country for 2 years head back to NZ in july) had to get a letter from her work (NZ airforce ) say we had use to company car.

I use Hagerty because I am actually allowed to drive my car! plenty cheap, stated value, hard to judge an ins, co, unless you have a CLAIM!!!!!

here in Missouri ( also known by some as " the state of misery!?), we get an Antique tag once, good for ever. supposed to keep record of driving ( yea), and not daily use ( yea),,,,,

I've had Hagerty for about 10 years now. $10K replacement costs about $215 per year (cup of coffee a day). Never had a claim so I can't comment.

Hagarty- For personal use. The uninsured motorist is non-stacking

I use a company my regular insurance guy recommended called American Modern. I pay $68 per quarter for a guaranteed replacement value of $24,000 if stolen or totaled. It also includes towing and some kind of parts replacement insurance (not sure what that entails) with no mileage restrictions. Only real requirement is that if my butt isn't in the drivers seat the car is in a locked garage.

Hagerty also requires locked garage. why isn't pit bulls, mean donkeys, and loaded assortment of gun, rifles, pistols, and anti tank weapons not considered!!??? huh!???

Hagerty......278 per year zero deductible, 100k/300K , un insured motorist, 30k/60k medical , insured as Pro Street with $25k agreed Value. Has to be stored in a garage & can not be your only vehicle. Can drive it whenever, wherever.

I feel like I'm sometimes "collecting" car insurance....

Over the years I've had occasion to use both Hagerty and Grundy, and have been very satisfied with both. Presently it's Hagerty.

I,m with Grundy duster is insured for $30k..$410 a year, Hagerty wanted $200 more..no restrictions just has to be garaged..

I've had Hagerty before and liked the policy because I could drive the car on Sunday cruises etc as well as shows. Requirements were the same as others i.e.: locked garage, reasonable annual mileage limit, no daily driver. I had a small fender ding and getting them to cover it took longer than I thought it should have then they jacked my policy up $60.

I switched to Heacock Classic Car insurance.....same requirements. $60k agreed upon value but required extensive documents and quite a few pictures. $361 per year. '69 Charger 440 R/T.
Yeah, yeah......I'll have another A body this year I hope.

I'm with American Auto Collectors http://www.americancollectors.com/ Mine averages about $180 for both my Scamp and Charger. It is always how much coverage you want ie. uninsured motorist coverage, vehicle value, personal and public damage, stuff like that will make your coverage cheap or expensive. Many options.

I've used Hagerty for several years now, no claims. $241/year. They increased the covered value of my Barracuda from $20k to $28k and didn't charge me a nickle more. Just make sure the vehicle is garaged or you may get into problems, I moved my Dart from the garage to a carport on my back 40 and they cancelled the Dart policy, I moved the Dart back into the garage and they would not re-insure it. I still like them enough that I wouldn't change to someone else.
