What is everyone doing to seal their hood scoops to the motor? I know from the factory on air grabber hoods and six pack hood they would have a rubber seal that had a drain on it to let water run out. I'm planning on using a Hemi style hood scoop with a 2x4 intake set up. While never planning to drive in the rain never know what mother nature might throw at you. The idea of just having a huge hole dumping water over my engine bay doesn't sound like fun.

google "carb to scooped hood seal". There is a whole section of pictures of what other folks did. Click from that search to Summit Racing and they sell a bunch of kits for this including at one from Moroso that is for dual quads. Sounds like a fun project!

How do you plan on makin an intake with 2x4s??? :-k won't the gas eat away at the would after awhile?? How much rtv will you need to get it to seal?? How are you putting it together? With glue, screws or 16 penny nails??? :banghead: ok I'll shut up now.... :D

The trick is to use marine grade wood :D .

I wish I could afford one of the K&N carbon fiber boxes at Summit! I'm still not sure which way would be the best way to go. The company I'm planning on ordering my hood from (USBody) does sell a fiber glass piece that you can glue/fiber glass to the hood so it will come up with the hood. That seems like a cool idea but they say its only for a single carb set up i.e. single round air cleaner hole. I saw something on extreme 4x4 when they were building a rock crawler. It was a plexiglass set up that used an oval filter like the 6 pack intake. I wonder if there is a way to seal that against the hood, drill some drain holes and run some hose from those holes to have any water drain out around the motor.

Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!! THAT'S what I was missing!! Lol

I like your idea for the drain tubes. Always thought having the water drain onto the engine was sorta dumb! It's hard enough to keep an engine clean the way it is!!
