I have seen posted here claims that the Jag fan clutch that many are using for clearance results in slower fan speed. I assume this is at idle or slow speeds. Has anyone run into problems with the lower speed resulting in overheating in extreme conditions (like hot day stuck in traffic)?

ya i have used the jag fan, its made for a plastic 8 blade fan. my car never overheated but it did creep up at idle on hot 85 + days to maybe 215*. if that's all that fits than that is all you can use. I tried a couple different brands but they all were weak with my 5 blade 18" aluminum fan.

I'm using the Hayden on my 408 with a Mopar 5-blade fan and stock shroud with a rebuilt 22-inch radiator. I have never had a problem with over heating or temp creep in over 7,000 miles. I've driven the car on long multi-day trips (mix of highway and stop and go traffic) in the month of August with no problems. My radiator was re-built by Glen-Ray Radiator using their three row core, it was expensive, and is heavy as hell :) but it works great.

I am using the Hayden clutch with a 5-blade Mopar fan on my 416. I am using a Wizard Cooling 22 in radiator and shroud. The radiator is a 22 in unit (two row, 1.25). I am also using stock crank and water pump pulleys. I have never had a problem with over heating. Water temperatures range from 175 to 195. I have driven in 90-plus heat for two years with no problems.

..i think i read somewhere that idle speed would be about 90% of pulley speed with these viscous fans.Mine ran a bit warm in traffic. I replaced it with a flex fan and it runs cool now.Every engine is different and it may or may not be fine in your application.
