Boat motor?

Make sure that it's not a reverse spin.

If it was on a boat with two engines, one turns the opposite direction of the other so the boat goes straight. If they turned the same direction, the boat would go sideways like a sidewinder rattlesnake....

Make sure that it spins the correct direction for a car before spending too much time and money on it....

If it checks out, then I would go through it and freshen it up.

I sold a 69 318 standard rotation motor out of a truck to a guy restoring a boat.
He had a reverse rotation one that was good.
He was happy to find a matching vintage year motor.

I am pretty sure you can change the cam, and add normal car stuff and make work.
