Street outlaw clowns are in trouble!

its all about the benjamins baby, jealous of the money:violent1:

Nhra responded and said some of the cars have their logos and therefore are promoting nhra by the illusion of their illegal street racing.

here are my thoughts..

1. NHRA does not have a legal claim against the drivers on "street outlaws" if the show films the episodes on closed roads where police permits have been issued. if you read the section that NHRA is quoting, it refers to "illegal" street racing. street outlaws racing on public streets would not be "illegal" if they have obtained a permit.

2. NHRA would have a claim against the show if there are any NHRA stickers visible on any of the vehicles in the show. NHRA would have the right to oppose the use of such stickers "without their written permission" which is the usual standard for using corporate logos.

3. all TV shows have lawyers who give the final OK on scripts and intended actions. given the "public profile" of the street outlaws show, it would be hard to believe that the producer of the show had overlooked any legal requirements and/or liabilities in the filming and/or broadcast of that show.

4. i suspect there is a "back story" behind this dispute. perhaps the show's producer wanted involvement with NHRA and they couldn't agree to a deal; perhaps there was advertising offers made that the show and NHRA couldn't agree upon - whatever the issue, i would bet there is much more to the story.

5. the problem that NHRA has is that the "real" money in racing these days has to do with broadcasting rights and revenue. the premise of "street outlaws" as ridiculous as that show is - is the kind of show that brings viewers and advertisers these days. it is impossible for NHRA to compete with the "entertainment" street outlaws brings. oddly, rather than trying to beat this show, if i were advising NHRA, i would advise that they find a way to work with the show.

If you race at a NHRA track they have you sign a waiver absolving them of any fault in case of damage or injury.I would bet Discovery does the same for all participants of Street Outlaws.

Very close except the other way around from what "Doc" has post at yellowbullet

I received my letter today. And as far as I know, we all did. Pretty sure the NHRA isn't ready for the social media blast they are about to be put thru. The cast member collectively have more facebook, twitter, and instagram followers than the nhra has had in 10 combined years. The story I got is that the NHRA contacted Pilgrim wanting a piece of the action early in season one or 2. Pilgrim told them to **** off and the NHRA walked away pissed. Apparently seeing our ratings continue to skyrocket and their ratings continue to fall has made them feel the need to go after the show in the only way they can. Lets go after the guys who had nothing to do with Pilgrims **** off in the first place. Just doesn't make an since. We put fans in the seats and money in struggling tracks bank accounts everywhere we go. The NHRA cannot say or compete with that, so lets just play a school yard bully now. NHRA can go suck camel dna off of 3,000 Isis terrorists dicks or this move

If that is the way things went down, nhra is acting like a scorned ***** and doling out some retaliatory actions. Kind of shoots the "we don't support or condone street racing" bs in the foot as well.

With the nhra, only $$$ matter!

Have not been "involved", other than spectating, Drag Racing since 1989 or so. Was that way even way back then. Don't remember the specifics but the guy I was helping was using a trans brake delay box....being an electrical genius his box worked like a champ....instant, reliable release that repeated itself everytime. Cost him under $40 to build. Went to the Old Dutchmans Classic one year, NHRA made him pull it out of the car as it did not have one of there stickers on it. Cost him damn near $400 to get a "legal" delay box....that was slower and less consistent than the one he built. We ended up hiding his up under the dash and making up some dummy wiring to get thru tech with it.....

I can believe this !

Rumor has I that the NHRA has sold the Pro catagories to some entertainment company.
This could be the start of the end for NHRA.

Pull in a bunch of cash to golden parachute away into oblivion.

Compton and Light thank you! :)

Should be interesting. I don't watch much of the big time races anymore. The fastest class that I like watching is pro mod or pro stock. All the ss stuff and factory classes are more my style.

what its all fake and u cant do this on the street
well ****

Screw NHRA... Just whizzed, because someone puts on a better piece, of entertainment. No Hot Rods Allowed became an entertainment product years ago, nowhere for the street /strip guys to go anymore affordably. Not a big fan,of the show, still more exciting than bracket cars & junior dragsters. Need more heads up racing, like PSCA.

With all the BS going on in Topeka Ks with HEARTLANDPARK TOPEKA, the latest thing in the paper is, now get this guys. HEARTLAND PARK and TOPEKA KS "HAD" to sign a contract with the NHRA for this years Nats to guarantee the NHRA $1.5 million to insure that the race would go on in 2015. IF the race only brings say $1.2 million then the city and "who ever" owns HPT has to come up with $300,000. to make up the diff!!!! Now the chit hit the fan here in Topeka when that hit the papers. I can see where they "need"more $$$$$$$ now and want to punish the Street Outlaws cuz they told the NHRA to F--- OFF lol
