Carter Carburetors ~ Tech and Specs

Carter Carburetors

1967 Plymouth/Dodge ~ 383/280 HP ~ {Dart GTS 383 and Barracuda 383-S}

AFB {#4298S; Manual} and {#4299S; Automatic}
Rated @ 537 CFM's

Throttle Body Sizes ............... 1 7/16" x 1 9/16"
Venturi Sizes ........................ 1.186" x 1.313"

Primary Jets ....................... .089"
Secondary Jets {#4298S}..... .0695"
Secondary Jets {#4299S} .... .068"
Metering Rod ....................... 16-404 {.063" x .051"}

This Carter AFB on the A-Body 383/280 HP Engine was listed as a
'restricted' Carburetor at 525 CFM's, due to the smaller {1.313" Secondary Venturi}

Recommendations were to step up the Secondary Jets {one size} for
Street-use {#120-371 ~ .071"}.

And, to go up {two sizes} for Track-use {#120-175 ~ .073"}

Excellent thread and info. Thanx. I now know what my 4299S is for. I know you are still building the list, but do you have nfo on a 9510S? I have this one loitering as well.
