A nice duster on craigslist $7,500.
A comparable duster on ebag $14,000

I usually take the craigs list price and divide that by 2 or 3 to figure what it is actually worth once you go look at it...

feebay.... longdistance buying!???? Ha

Ebay is almost unuseable for used parts anymore.

The prices are 2-3x what you can get here and that's not including shipping.

Yeah pretty much, there's always a chance you will get murdered with Craigslist as well or chained up to the sellers water heater.

We bought one car and two motorcycles on Craigslist and sold five cars and one motorcycle on Craigslist...you can pretty much source out the scammers right away...yes, people do get nervous about buyers and sellers on Craigslist but so far we have actually enjoyed each purchase and all the car buyers we sold to were very nice people...Marla

I love craigslist!! If you use common sense, and instinct... it's pretty safe and you get great deals!

EBay for small parts, craigslist for everything else. Craigslist is the best invention ever, free ads has lead to the sale of so many cars that would have rotted away forever before somebody paid $50-100 to put an ad in the paper. Maybe if you lived in a major population area or Indiana central to so much I might look at cars on eBay, but for me shipping kill anything that might have been a good deal. Then again to me both $7000 and $14000 seem overpriced for a Duster.

I've bought cars on craigslist and ebay. I got the better deal on ebay but only because I drove to pick up the cars in person. I like the safety of buying on ebay but being able to look before you buy and to haggle is where craigslist shines. Plus when you go to look at the car you're going to buy you may see other cars and parts that you can get for cheap too.

Our local police department has set up an area for craigslisters to sell there items right at the station, pretty nice.

Now that is smart idea! More places need to do that! We use to have a paper called the Want ad press -I bought tons of parts and cars out it. I miss that!

Ebay: bigger audience=more buyers= higher prices
Craigslist: more flakes, less buyers= lower prices

I've purchased plenty from both sites. On CL I purchased 5 motorcycles, ebay, mostly smaller, ship-able items

I just bought an A body radio with knobs and faceplate for 8 bucks on Craigslist!!! Heck, the knobs alone are worth at least twice that!

Wish I could find a wiper motor deal like that on Craigslist!

I was dumb, I found a '74 dart sport in the Pick Your Part in Monrovia, CA and I didn't take the wiper motor (or trunk lid) because I didn't think I need it. Next time I find an A-Body I'm taking EVERYTHING!!

I'm constantly looking on Craigslist for stuff. I figure one man's junk parts is another man's treasure.

I have had good luck on both, but craigslist seems to work better for me with buyers within 150 miles from me. I had a 340 Duster posted on fabo for a year. No response. I posted a 69' Dart on craigslist, sold it in two days, and I had two buyers that wanted it. The second guy bought the Duster on the spot when he saw it. Two cars gone in two hours. It made my wife very happy. Me too! it is Important though, to screen out the scum right off, If they sound flakey, they likely are. I don't respond to them.

I had bad luck with craigslist...one good smooth sale and the rest have been scammers sending me fake checks and people wanting to play 20 questions everyday for two weeks. Ebay is just plain ridiculous with the fees now days not to mention the crazy high item prices...

I ended up having to use Ebay for a drivers side V8 exhaust manifold, most local yards simply didn't have them, and the one that probably would've, charges three times what other yards charge, it would have run me a hundie, easy. A wanted ad on craigslist got nothing over a three month period.
I watched Ebay for a month, and found one for $45 with shipping. Craigslist is nice, but Ebay can be just as good if you can be patient.

I love Craigslist and have baught and sold multiple vehicles on it. You can avoid scammers by saying no emails and spelling out your phone number instead of typing it numerically. I've never found an eBay car in my price range or area

I first started selling on Ebay in 1999. It was great both as a seller and buyer. It changed as it developed more processes, fees, and sought to create "eabay stores" which are many times simply a storefront for businesses that don't exist anywhere but on the web. I stopped selling on ebay in the mid 2000s. Now I use Craigslist or a few websites and I'm much more satisfied. As a seller - Ebay became a magnet for assholes.

but doesn't Ebay own a % of craigslist? like everything else in life, there is a time and place for ebay and the same for craigslist. I use them both, and yes, both with reservations.. I do have 2 ebay stores and its a hassle, but, it feeds my family and my classic car habit.
