The buyer should not have to pay for the protection of getting what they paid for. Personally I'm not buying anything used / person to person over the internet without PayPal. I want to believe in honest people but that way of thinking has got me screwed so many times. $3 out of $100 WTH. It's worth it to me either way, buyer or seller. Plus, if I'm selling, I have spending money the wifey can't see.
