How much does it cost to rebuild a Slant 6

I got the VICTOR REINZ spark plug tube seals from Rock Auto. No more leaks. (Well no more leaks there. Still got the power steering pump and sector shaft issues to fix)

Rob,

if you're doing rebuilds, how much you want to build mine? I decided I'm gonna keep the slant.

Sorry I missed this. I tried to PM you my number but your inbox is full. I would love to build you one.

Like so many I offer to help, I guess the OP is just gonna ignore me.

Find a later model head if possible, will already have hardened seats installed. I think it started in '73?
I can't say for sure about Mopar, but the others of the Big 3 used Induction Hardening of the iron head to create 'hard' valve seats. They did not use any sort of insert seat. When you see that done it's because a machine shop did it and someone paid for it. Locally that runs about $300 for one V8 cylinder head.

The problem with induction hardened valve seats is that hardening isn't very deep and usually the first valve grind will grind thru it. Then you're back to just an iron valve seat, all of the hardening is has been ground away.

First off I am not exactly sure where to find the oil fill and PCV valve. How is it that I can fix all of the leaks by leaving the engine in the car. Currently I am leaking oil from various spots, tranny fluid, and coolant. I'll try and post some pictures of all of the leaks.
if u dont know where the oil fill cap is then how are you adding oil to the engine? if you are not then the leaks are very minimal. first of all i would powerwash the entire engine. dry it off by driving it and then keep an eye on it for suspected leaks and address them as needed. remember one thing ,oil is cheap unless you are adding copious amounts on a regular basis. good luck.

surprised no one told you the truth about a rebuild cost --- until the money is gone. They are all money pits. My wife confirmed that mine is. HAHAHAAHAHAHAA
