Trunk lock not releasing the latch

'73 Dart Swinger, someone used a bungy cord to hold the lid down :violent1: while hauling a kids wagon... Apparently it was hooked to the latch inside the trunk lid and tied down to wear it should latch. After this mess was removed the trunk was shut and latched, now the key will turn the tumbler, as it should, but won't disengage the latch.... Any ideas?:banghead:
 
Something has stuck the latch mechanism.

You can pull the seat back on the rear seat and access the trunk to be able to asses the problem.
 
After putting new weatherstrip and rubber bumpers mine did the same. Had to push down in it while turning the key to get it open. Adjusted the latch and it works fine now.

Thanks for the input. I will give it a try this evening and let you guys know how it turns out.

This has happened to me before on my little brothers Dart Sport #-o
I was responsible for the fire wall/ inner fender and trunk resto , boy was I happy to get it opened before he made it back to the shop :D

I will check the adjustments once I get it open this evening
