Got the hood on,about a month ago. Still need to seal the Carb pan, to the hood pan. Gaps are aligned, essentially this part is done. Interior is half done, will post pics soon.

Great project, I'm following. I want/need to do the same for my Duster soon, under the hood is like an oven on hot sunny days here in CO (more intense sunlight due to higher altitude, closer to the sun and less atmosphere to absorb it). No doubt my Hedman shorties are contributing to the high temps too. With my borderline pump-gas-friendly compression it likes to ping if it's hot. Also has noticeably more power at night time when it's colder out, or if I'm at the drag strip and I can spray it down with water.

question you said something about the stock air cleaner base being too far back, do you mean back towards the firewall? Does this mean your air cleaner is now offset towards the front of the car?

Also what was your reason for "filling" that whole triangular area like that instead of just near the air cleaner hole? Is it to help insulate against the heat more?

Whoa,back from the dead...
Hello Khalid, hopefully all is well, for the wedding.
Question one: I mis-measured ,where I cut. I cut it in the triangular section,to keep the bracing. I mocked it up using a 14" x 3" air filter, went to a 14" x 4" filter(sits higher,in the scoop)... Had to trim it in the rear,to clear more.
Question 2: The reason for "filling the hole" with the tin shield, was to have a uniform sealing area, for foam or weather strip seal to seal the air cleaner pan,to the hood. That maximizes your cold air induction to the intake system.
So,you are correct Khalid.

Cool Tim sounds like a good fab project. Haven't been spending too much time on here since the Duster hasn't had anything interesting done and I'm broke but just got a "temporary" job while I look for a real engineer one. My cousin's 440 project is kind of stalled out as well due to back-ordered parts, I'm ready to finish that thing in 2 days and get it fired up but, such is life... lol

Regarding wedding stuff everything rides on the visa application going through, hopefully no later than early June. You're in California you should pay the USCIS office a visit tell them to hurry up! :violent1:

Lol...Keep it real,Khalid...

Dang Abody, I was hoping that I was going to see new updates. :protest:

Actually, family health issues, have become a concern( last month, or so..) What little time I have had, has been incorporating a pair of 4.5 " inch speaker mounts(no kick panel cutting), & building a ignition / basic control switch panel, into the ash tray assembly. I touched the car , for the first time in months tonight.

- Hopefully there aren't any serious problems and everyone is better. If you get a chance post some picture updates on the speaker/switch panel. I've been anxious to see updates.

Just found your posting here Bomber and love the way your car is coming along. I too want to do a lil more work under the hood of my Scamp to take better use of the scoop on my 71 Scamp. Keep the posts coming when you can.

That's a very tasty Scamp,.Love the 6 Pak scoop, something different. The Scamp guys, seem to hang together occasionally.

That looks like quite the crowd in the ashtray. It ought to keep the dash looking pretty clean with everything hidden.:thumbup:

Appreciated, 67... Not the cleanest, making limited tools work...

Watched Dirty Mary ,Crazy Larry, Duel is just starting ,El Rey network. ( love the early 70's car films, just the simplicity & brutal honesty..) Anyway, built a battery tray/top crossover bar. The shifter is sorted & wired up, seats are in. Working the decklid, to jamb the damn thing.

Cleaner up and jammed the rear decklid. (Martin Senour single stage urethane). Yes it is really FJ5 Sublime, excuse the awful lighting.
Finally ordered front glass, less than 200.00 shipped.(Rock Auto, with discount code from FABO.THANK YOU!)
amazing the difference in prices from glass wholesale/retail vendors. This one situation, held the project back a year plus.

Making what you have work is what it's all about... I can't count the Times I've held something between my feet so I can hammer, drill, grind or turn a wrench... Always chuckling about how nice it must be to have a bench vise... We work around it...

Nice work, the hood looks great, and the interior parts are coming together nicely, I like the ashtray switches. Chip away when you can.

Joe

Bomber, it's good to see more progress posts from you. I still haven't gotten around to making my own version of your hood scoop seal, but it's on my 'to do' list. - Keep pluggin' away at it. I'm looking forward to hearing stories of all the mischief you'll be getting yourself into after you get her back on the road.

Disassembled rear bumper/tail light assembly, got the bumper painted. Ordered front windshield weather strip today.
