Double checking, where besides head gasket might engine coolant get into crankcase oil from?

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it's coolant.??

What are your symptoms.?

It's not uncommon for water vapor from combustion to form sludge in the valve cover and oil filler cap.. This is most common on engines that do short trips, and/or have a PCV problem..

Radiator pressure test, loses pressure and oil level goes up as coolant enters oil pan.

Yeah, there are a few things it could be, need to start the investigation process.

High mileage engine? I would pull the head and look at the gasket.

Yeah me thinks so too. Not high miles. I'll post what I find on disassembly.

Thanks

When the engine is running and stat open, did you see bubbles in the coolant?

Although, if there is coolant in the crankcase, I wouldn't run it.

I would check the torque on the head bolts just to see if there was a mistake there. If they are ok and you disassemble it, then you can look for a bad gasket and try to figure out what wen wrong with it. Maybe head needs milling or is warped a bit. Low mileage gaskets don't tend to go bad all that quick, but it can happen. I would look for why though. Then use new bolts to put the head back on.

Yeah I put ARP studs in it. After it started leaking. Might not have got a good retorque previously....

If new studs did not fix it, then a re-torque is likely not going to help either. If you can see the oil level going up, then you have a LARGE leak and it is time to tear down without further ado.
