Trying to find a shop to resurface my 9 inch front drums , no luck so far , any ideas out there. I'm near philly and Delaware. looked to buy new ones , classic only sells the bare drums ?

you don't have an oreilly's close? they need to turn the drum & hub as a unit, should not be a problem-- you need to find an old timer, maybe a mom & pop brake shop. there has to be one in your area. Lawrence

Any older garage or shop can probably turn them, I live in central pa 800 people three garages and they all turn drums, roters etc.

Yep. Will have to find a locally owned shop to do it.. We turn rotors, drums ect and we are one of like 5 shops around who do so.

Hi,

You should measure up your drums first and see if they can be cut. .090 over is the limit most of the time and on an old car drums have often been cut several times before. A quick measurement across the diameter of the drum and you will know.

Absolutely!

Not only how "thick" the metal is on the friction surface, but also how much out-of-round {egg shaped} the drum is.

most pass cars are .060

I've seen .060 in Chrysler Factory Service Manuals for these cars and I've seen .090 stamped on drums. I take the .090 as the outside limit. The set of rear drums I took off my 69 Barracuda recently were at .125 over. You just never know what you're going to find on these cars. People just patched them up to keep them on the road. Yes, the Barracuda is getting new drums as part of its restoration and new Scarebird disc brakes up front.

Thanks , I been calling around , found a goodyear tire shop that said they will do it 20bucks a drum , not to many mom and pops left around here
