Not much progress but did get some argon-mix for the mig and some sheet metal from 65 chevy I cut up to make patch panels for the roof rust...Still debating what do with the top when body work is finished ???
Oh and Radiator sprung a leak in the core, shuffling her around at the shop.I guess it is time for an aluminum radiator with electric fan (fan clutch ain't too strong)
Can not wait too get the above things done so I can get back to the tune.
Demon carb needs air bleeds drilled to lean idle.
Exhaust is raspy and needs some 3" tips to mellow her out.
So much for the sleeper image she is loud and raspy...Tips should help.

lol your sleeper not going to let anyone sleep at night?

Kind of reminds me of the Gator McKlusky mobile..wait that was a Ford. A 429 Ford but still a Ford.

But it was a sleeper and gave the Highway patrol a run for its money. Ahh... the movies

Got back to work on the Dart.
Got radiator installed with electric fans.I did some core support modifications to get the 26" radiator centered to the opening it had a 26 inch radiator from the factory.
I had to remove the front bumper to do the mods...
No more fan clutch or fan.

Back at it...
Randy got some more body work in and a got a couple dents in the roof that he will fix Monday.
We canned the idea of re-locating the battery to the trunk for now, modified my bracket for the fan to get the battery tray in,
I installed my FBO box and re-curved distributor today.
Set the timing to 17 degrees and took her for a quick test drive, ran her up to 2500 rpm in first shifted to 2nd and floored her and she spun the wheels and hooked right...let off and drove her back in shop.I was holding down the dash mat for my test run ...no windshield...
I am stoked the beast is almost ready for Mopar at MotorPlex on March 27-29.
Can not stop smiling....:blob::blob::blob:

Cool thread! Definitely wanna check it out at the Plex.
Funny how stuff snowballs, huh?
Mine has been doing it for ten years.
Got it mostly back together today, barring serious catastrophe I should be driving it to Ennis.

Hope to see you there !!!

GREAG NEWS MARTIN! I cant wait to hear how she does! 8)
Thanks Chuck !!!
Can not wait to see what see runs....No test and tune at local track they shut it down and closes is Temple,Tx....
I will be there Friday night for Test and Tune,Saturday for the Mopar races and Sunday for the Muscle Car Club Challenge.
I got some goodies coming from Summit Thursday and I post more progress then.

That blows. I have to go about 4hrs to get to the nearest track to me. We have a loca dirt track, but it would be nice to see some variety instead of the same people finishing in the same spot every weekend

Today a local body shop shot some primer on my roof !!!

Called Monday and my glass guy said Wednesday to put in my front and back glass back in..
My drag radials got serious cracks in them so Jeg's says my MT radials will be here Thursday.
I set my pinion angle and modified the un-mopar Summit universal drive shaft loop to work in my car....Crackedback pipe loop would of been quicker.
I need to Get It Done.......
Mopar at the MotorPlex is this weekend.
Oh Got the fan controller almost wired up.

What a day of progress...Glass guy showed up,carb is somewhat tune...not really happy yet, fans are working...And tires from Jegs showed up and are Installed.
I am whooped today.Headed out tomorrow for Ennis,Tx for test and tune !!!

Fear the four door...Fear it!

That made me laugh..this car got a mind of it own,It takes off strong but could do better.
Then with rpms up it smokes the tires off in second but that was the dry rotted drag radials I took off it...The MT BARELY squeal.
I don't even have 5 miles on this car,Hope all goes well !!!

I made it to track late Friday and only got one run in.
Fell asleep at the tree...
Here is the first run on this car
R/T .826
60" 2.267
330 6.398
1/8 9.740
MPH 74.33
1000 12.628

1/4 15.084
MPH 91.48

Then went to tuning in the carb and felt like I had it just right, made a few one two shift on the back lane and felt good.
Woke up in the morning and after eat breakfast,I checked everything and heard a vacuum leak.Would you know it,I pull the carb to drill the air bleeds because it was running super rich at idle and I did not push the PCV hose behind the carb all the way on.The I still heard another vacuum leak and it was the power booster hose to my intake,so with no clamps..I just tie strapped it tight.
Now I had tuned it up to a vacuum leak...Retune the carb.
Saturday morning in time trails,I only made one run and here it is.

LOST SECOND ROUND got a hesitation off the line and misplaced the ticket will post later.I am tired.
This car aint got no 2500 stall convertor and it needs one !!!
Reaction improved on Sunday but times where worse...Will post them tomorrow.
the 14.819 time was my best.

Sweet! Sounds like shes got a lot more in her Martin! What are you thinking, low 14's with a head wind when you geg the converter in there?

I will be in low 14's before the convertor!
Found a lot wrong with car at the shop this week...adjusted suspension and torsion bars.
Got a fuel leak at fuel sending unit PO used a insulation gasket and silicone to seal it.
I found my spare seal for my 63 dart fuel sender and hope it works.
I am re jet an Edelbrock carb now.
The demon carb ,I bought used and it was because of the hesitation problem it has...I have not given up on the demon just going to run what I own right now,no extra funds...
I plan on taking it to Little River in Temple on Saturday for their Summit series race.
Will see how it goes but I am confident I do better...Also all my runs at Ennis was without at tach and just shifting by ear !!! Tach gets installed tomorrow and then I can start logging my results after adjustments.
Just needs more track time for me and the car !!!

Hey Martin!

Did you make it out to Little River?

How's the car coming along?

Let me know if I can help out with anything.

Yea ha ha yea buddy! Nice!
Love the "Scott" saying "Fear the 4 door, FEAR IT!
I know of a Chevelle that that fear the 4 door and could not catch me until midway thru second...he broke out.

No want to make it but family plans and could not get away !!!
Figured out the Demon hesitation though so she stays on...
Put wiper bushings in today...What the hell I am going street legal and inspecting it and plating it.I think I run street class in the summit series at Little River.
Hey do you still need help with yours I got that distributor...call me you got my number.

Weighted the car today at a friend of mine shop ,He has scales for his circle track car.
So, with no back seat and half tank of gas and me out of it it weights 3415 lbs.
This gives me more info for my torque convertor order...
Now a few runs at the track with tach and I can give them more info.:burnout:
