A-body Hemi box 4 speed

Everything about this trans points to a modified part rather than a factory built transmission.
Still a great part to have. Chevy guy built this for his street strip camaro is what it appears it will fit as is. With a little work it could be used in a A-body.
The 68 SS transmissions were special inside as well as unique with the parts bolted onto them.
Finding the correct pieces today would be very hard and not much short of a miracle. It would be nearly impossible to create an exact SS clone 833.
The Hurst shifter that was used has been long discontinued and not a factory part.
The shifter mounting bracket was not the same as was used on factory A-body 4-speeds.
Gears were specifically modified for racing called red stripes.
Slick shifted transmissions wear fast. They weren't built to last like what was installed in a production car. They were built to be up shifted only, hard and fast, run for a 1/4 mile at a time and maintenced very often. Easily done back when the parts were still available from Chrysler. Not true today. I would not be surprised if all the remaining 68 4-speed SS cars don't even have an as delivered slick shift transmission installed. If there is one still around
as delivered I would really like to see it.
