2017 Ramcharger

My opinion is they need to make a bare bones 4x4 SUV. my brother had a 78 Trailduster, vinyl lowback van seats, rubber mat on the floor, and what could only be described as a cut down school bus seat in the back.

I agree, anymore it's hard to find vehicles that way.I have a 04 Ranger Edge with the only options are air/auto.I love the rubber floor,my Bro in law has a Tacoma with light gray carpet that looks like *** causes he uses it to go to work.I dread when my ranger dies cause nobody is making a basic small truck now and I keep hoping Ford gets back in the small truck market with a 4cyl diesel so it would get decent mpg.Ford keeps trying to push their F150.

X2 a new small 4 cyl 5 or 6 speed pickup, bare bones that gets 30 mpg.
I would buy one quick for a parts hauler.
I parked my old W150 SWB next to a co-workers new SWB ram and the W150 was tiny.
I loved my old 88 s-10 SWB 2wd 4cyl 5 speed, that old truck got close to 30 mpg, and was 200k miles dependable until an accident took it out, why cant automakers make one now, they could 25 years ago?

The problem with small pickups is they cost as much to make as a big pickup minus a few pounds of steel, and they don't get much better MPG yet they seat less and haul less. Look at the latest GM offerings. You can get a nice full size GM for a similar price that gets the same MPG so nobody wants 3000# less towing and their knees in their chest in the back seat the smaller truck offers.

And that pos was Motortrend's truck of the year lol.
They say the price as shown in the Colorado commercial is 36k for 36k I can get a pretty good fullsize.

There is no cost savings in making things smaller. If anything it costs more to make them smaller. Especially when you want it to not just pass a crash test but get 5 stars.
What we need is to make safety and emissions optional not required. Then we could have interesting choices with really low prices. There are some great little cars in India that cost well under $5000 brand new. Safe, no, reliable, somewhat, get 40 mpg, yes. Probably just as safe and lower emission then any a body ever made.
There are also cheep diesel small trucks out there in the world outlawed by the EPA and DOT for import.
