tail pipe mounting to the OD of muffler ?

Outside of not being of what is normally done. Is there any problem mounting your tail pipe over ( NOT inside the muffler port) the muffler exit tube port. And I will be using a SS band clamp.. Things may work better for me if I were to do this..Don't ask. Thanks
 
If I'm understanding you correctly, I did this on my beater ford ranger and have had no issues yet.
 
Much better that way than the old tried and true method of just jambing any size tail pipe in and then welding up . I see this form of hack done on both ends of the exhaust by even some of the best shops. They just don't care.
