X2 I just went through this yesterday! I am in the process of the MAD amp gauge modification as well as the headlight relay mod. While I was at it I decided that I would address the fact that sometimes my relay would chatter like yours. I purchased one from Advance Auto Parts and when they handed me the box, I noticed it was a Borg-Warner part and I felt good about that. but then when I looked at the part I read "MADE IN INDIA" ARRRRGH, well it will probably be alright, right? NOPE I installed the new relay, turned the key and.......NOTHING! I investigated further and found a few connections and crimp connectors that were bad but I still got no response when trying to start with the key (cranked just like yours when shorting with a screwdriver). After connecting the neutral safety and the start wire from the igniton switch to the old relay I heard the relay click when I turned the key. I re-installed the old relay and now everything is fine. Long story short......DON'T TRUST ANYTHING MADE OVERSEAS!
