high impact colors with small engines

I am pretty sure they made cars with slant sixes or 318 but with a high impact color.

Maybe its just me but that seems like an odd combo because its like a reverse sleeper.

Seems that whenever there is a car in sublime, sassy grass, pink....ect. most people are expecting a V8 or at very minimum a 340.

anyone here have a high impact colored car with a 318 or smaller?
 
I didn't buy either one, but back in the late 80s or early 90s, I had the chance to buy a Panther Pink 318 Duster, and remember thinking real hard about buying a Plum Crazy 70 Challenger that was a slant six with 3 speed manual.
 
Yes, I worked for a Dodge dealer in the 70's, any color was available. A girl on the street behind the home where I lived bought a new 70 Barracuda Plum Crazy Slant six convertible.Wish I had that car today. When the Duster Twister came out along with the Demon Sizzler,most were Slants and 318's that looked like muscle cars with bright colors.
 
A slant six that got away, missed it by two days, $2500





The car I should have bought when I bought mine, I had my pick from the same seller, also slant six and $2500...not high impact but a Twister with all the goodies!
A guy from either Michigan or Ohio bought it and drove it home from Flowery Branch, Ga.


 
Our 70 Duster is a factory /6 car in FJ5 green. I often think, "the person who bought it new paid extra for the color but skimped on hp". There is something wrong about that. When we had the car redone. We fixed that issue!!
 
I used to own a FM3 70 Dart with a 318....tons of non performance came with high impact paint. I seen a 71 fury GT 440 in FC7 In a junkyard and also a 70 or 71 Fury 4-door 318 with the high imact yellow color.

Cool! There was a 71 Barracuda convertible here with a slant six, it was sassy grass green....nice car but I am afraid by now it's a boring "dime a dozen" Cuda clone now :banghead:
 
My '70 duster is a factory 318 car ev2 Hemi-orange..

I had a '71 that was the same color. Originally a /6, put a 318 in it a couple years after I bought it.

Don't forget the Twister package they offered for a couple years...340-style grille and strobe stripes on the hood...could get it with any offered engine.
 
Choice of Plum Crazy, Hemi Orange and Citron Yellow. Available with 318 3spd manual, 198 with a 904 and the optional 225. 3,443 built (according to Galen Govier)

The curved hood stripes were first used on the 'Sizzler packaged' cars and was an available option on the '72 340 Demon with and without the scoop. The only year the 'Sizzler' decal and A-59 option was used was 1971.

The Tuff wheel, all 340 stripes/Demon Decals were std equip. With the Rally Wheels, the trim rings were an option.

You're a Demon owner, correct? I'm surprised you had not heard of these.

There used to be a older woman here in town back in the late 80's who had a factory panther pink 70 Chrysler.That is the only factory high impact colored C body I have ever seen.
 
Not 100% if B5 is considered a high impact color but both my 71 and 72 Duster's were b5. The 71 was a slant car and the 72 was a twister with a 318
 
There were 10 high impact colors between 69-73. FC7-plum crazy/in violet EF6-bright green/rallye green FJ5-sublime/lime light FJ6-green go/sassy grass EK2-go mango/vitamin c FL5-butterscotch/bahama yellow FM3-panther pink/moulin rouge EV2-hemi orange/tor red FY1-top banana/lemon twist GY3-citron yellow/curious yellow. High impact colors were about a $15 option. 4 were introduced in 69, and ended in 73 with FY1.

And it was probably a rare car because of the color and combination. Not a highly desirable car but a rare car none the less. tmm
 
I'm in the middle of restoring a 1971 Dart from California. It's a factory slant six car, with factory EV2 Paint (Hemi Orange). I scratch my head too.....High impact color, low impact motor? Who knows, lotta drugs floating around back then

The extra cost High Impact paint is actually pretty common on cars of all engine sizes. Here is my 318 Swinger in Banana.

I pulled some parts off of a '70 Dart in a junkyard once that was a twin to your car, except for the engine. Code FY1 Top Banana yellow, black vinyl top, 198 slant six.

There was a Vitamin C orange Satellite around here at one time that had a slant in it. Had Centerlines, black out hood, the whole Roadrunner scheme going...
