Dumping the exhaust behind the rear axle?

Your comment lost me and I feel dumb now. lol. Is "dumps over the axle" any exhaust that goes over the axle to exit the rear, or does it mean something different? If an exhaust does not exit over the axle or out the side, where else is it supposed to go?
(I'm asking this in all sincerity; not trying to make a smart-*** rebuttal).
