I don't want to end up paying $50-$100 for a fuel cap on this junky 65 Valiant I got. I just need a fuel cap that will fit. Maybe if I end up getting the body restored then I would go for one of those nice new original caps. I just need something that will work but all I can find is a 67+ which will not fit the filler neck. I've already tried the aftermarket ones and the primered one offered from Year One. The one I currently have on is aftermarket for sure, it's chrome with a horizontal black handle. It fits correct but it's just worn out. I see some pop up on EBAY now and then for $50-$80 some OE and some Stant, all chromed with the black swirl handle. Is there any I can just go ask for or find easily on the internet that will fit with no modification or do I just have to end up paying for one of the expensive caps?

why wont the 67 fit, tangs too big to fit the filler neck? I think I used a $4 chrome '67 and just filed the tangs down, fits fine now. I think I posted measurements here somewhere.

Hello, I make a gas cap for your car that uses an O-ring so you don't get fuel spilling out on hard right turn. It's not junkie , but for 46 bucks it's not priced like gold either. Look up my seller name SJD234. Thanks, Steve

I recommend Damraider's cap, Ive bought several and they are WAY better then the stock replacements.

I purchased 1 as well. Very high quality. I know you would be satisfied, and can't beat the price. I haven't used mine yet, still getting ready for paint, but from the looks, it's the best one I seen.

x2 , best cap for the buck.

A gas cap would have to give me a ******* for 46 dollars.

here is a Stant from a 67 I believe. I ground the tabs and it fits fine.

They do make a locking cap (old school)?that is available at most auto supply stores for less then 10 bucks. Just peel the red sticker off and you have a chrome locking cap that seals . I will probally pick one up today and get you a part # . Called company and they have no clue , so I'm going to take mine in and have them match it . I've seen them on a few 65 plymouths .

i had the same problem i couldnt find any where that made a cap that worked so i went to pep boys found the closest locking key cap that almost fit went in the parking lot got a flat head and hammer then where the fuel tank tunnel hole a little bigger no leaks or nothing cost me $12.00 i like the key locking one so no one can pee in my tank ahahah

I wouldn't mind that part number if you could get it. I've tried two originals, and they both leak.
