i just put a trac loc diff in my 74 duster. It came out of 96 dodge dakota its an 8.25. now my problem... will 8.75 axles work in it because axles from duster are 27 spline and trac loc is 29 spline.
 
Um, you answered your own question,didnt you? How does 27 go into 29?
You didnt think this through all the way,did you?
Oh waitaminute. I think I mis-understood.
Still um,no.
The method of axle retainment is different for one.
But if you do figure it out, be sure to post back. I think lots of guys would be interested in the results.
 
8.75" axles are 30 spline. the early 8.25" s were 27 spline, later/trucks 29. no big deal to get aftermarket axles for an A body 8.25" with 29 spline
 
What year was the change?

I see these 8.25 limited slips for sale, but many times they don't list the spline count.

If I have to buy axles, I'll just build a 8 3/4 rear.
