Brake pads and clips?

-
Clips go in the piston and press against the brake pad. The purpose is to reduce rattle and squeal.

Those spring clips clip on to the backside of the piston side pad. It looks like your piston side pad is the one with the bigger ears. The clip will snap on the rear of that pad at a 90 deg angle or perpendicular to the brake surface. Then when you install that pad, the part of the spring clip that looks like an A will pop into the piston and help retain the pad there. Hope that helps.

............and on the outside pad u must bend those ears down to fit tightly to the caliper or the pad will rattle around in the caliper............kim....

MOPARMITCH, you're a genius. Tried it and WHAM! it went right together.

Kim,
Still confused, on the small clip for the outer pad. I see the tabs, but where does it attach to the pad?
Thanks

Oh boy, now from this angle,I recognize it!
And I think I know where that other one goes.In one of those "[" channels on the inboard pad, to take up the slack between the pad and the forward pad-stop in the caliper. That stop often takes a beating

Tried fitting the small clip in the [ area. Clip is too big.

I don't think you need that small clip. I've sold thousands of those brake pad sets, and don't ever remember seeing that one. Sometimes manufactures add clips for an array of applications. To me, It looks like a metal inspection hole cover, like you would see on a rear backing plate. I doubt if your front shields have holes anywhere in them, but it is worth a look. BTW, Kimmer was talking about the tabs on the outside pad where it lays on the caliper. Sometimes they are a little loose, and you can bend them some to make the pad tighter on the caliper sop it doesn't rattle.

AS long as both pads are tight between the stops,so they dont rattle, all is good. And to tell the truth I dont mind a little rattle. It tells me seal-retraction is working. Now, squealing, or screaming; that Im not interested in.
I know at least two guys have touched on this, but, sometimes the outer pad has to be taken out, and over to the bench to have that folded-over part lengthened by stretching it with the ball-end of a ball-peen hammer, and then to be re-fitted between the stops. All this to prevent rattle, and the possibility of screaming. This is in addition to folding over the top clamps/tabs.
