I don't know if this should be in the thread or in the interiors tread moderators please move if needed.

I am looking for some gauges that are period correct for my 70 dodge power wagon. Please those who were lucky enough to grow up then tell me my options for gauges and which ones that are correct or as close as for 1970. I have seen the sun green line seems to be 60's and early 70's and the blue line for mid 70's is that correct? Also looking for what was correct for dixco and or Stewart Warner. I am looking for oil pressure, volt, water temp and a column mounted tach. Thanks everyone for your help! Also looking for 8 lug slotted mags if anyone knows of some. Don't really want to spend the $500+ like on eBay. Those are too nice anyways, I want something original as I am trying to keep the patina and period correct look. I will be painting the top white and doing some "fauxtina" so it looks correct also.

If that were mine, and only my opinion, there is only one answer.........the old black face SW guages. I haven't checked "how close" you can come to those nowadays.

There WERE variations on those. "About 75" or so I built a dash for my beater old FJ-40 Landcruiser. I put a 340 / 4 speed in it, by the way. I used a mix of fairly old and "new then" gauges. Fuel ga (which was never accurate LMAO) and a 100A ammeter were new They are in bad shape but if you just want a "looks" comparison, I can post a photo

This is what I would call "50's 60's"

This "little different" needle look I would guess late 60's / early 70's

And this is what my gas gauge looked like as I recall, "early 70's"

I agree, SW was the industry standard since the beginnings of the automobile.
They had a no nonsense utilitarian reputation and could be found in everything from bulldozers to airplanes.
Sadly they did eventually get one upped by autometer in racing.
I still really like the old Stewart Warner's and would look great in a truck that age.
If you can find them they likely will still work, the mechanical one's anyway.

They came in two common sizes. 2 1/16" & 2 5/8". I like the full sweep mech.
gauges best.

I don't think anyone was putting slotted mags on 3/4 ton trucks like that back in the late 60's, as for gauges Stewart warners would go perfect in that rig.
