Interesting, It has a 68 dash in the car? if the dash was changed...the Vin# would have been as well...In some way or another? What else is up with this car...?

sorry you have to sell that car !! Looks great in the pictures!!

Am I missing something where did the dash comment come from? the ad states a 68 tail panel, it even has a picture of the vin ?? Car looks like a great vehicle, good starting point-- pictures are up -- just would need a visual inspection from an independant fabo member to verify pics meets actual .

Thanks Lawrence,
I am sure it will sell fast

Very cool GTS convertible. Nice looking color combo.

Does it have?:

fender tag
buildsheet
last six numbers of vin numbers on motor
last six numbers of vin numbers on trans

All to match dash vin, last six number of vin on radiator support? and last six numbers of vin on trunk lip?

Yes, nice car...The DASH COMMENT...it does say in the listing 68 tail panel. BUT have a look at the pictures AGAIN...clearly a 68 Dash in the car (lower dash pad) So yes, you did miss some thing :)
Still a nice car.....but it would/ should/ does raise a few questions as to why?

Very cool GTS convertible. Nice looking color combo.

Does it have?:

fender tag------no
buildsheet------no
last six numbers of vin numbers on motor-----don't know
last six numbers of vin numbers on trans------don't know

All to match dash vin, last six number of vin on radiator support? YES and last six numbers of vin on trunk lip? YES
Hope this helps

If you look at the rivit heads on the vin tag you can see they are not the correct rivits. I would assume the vin tag was put onto the 68 dash frame for some reason.

Also appears to have been a stripe delete car since it has front fender GTS emblems.

Ok...I asked (via Ebay questions) This is the simple and rather un-useful and un-explanatory reason for the dash/vin# " QUOTE " it is what it is, vin # is correct"?
So, I guess I person is suppose to spend some major cash on a questionable car with a response like that? Just looking for the history of the issue. Hey, it could be a numbers car, but lets hear the story, if he knows? I call B.S. on this one...but then again.. it is what it is :)

Belmato -- time to get some answers-- you know these guys have valid questions-- the dash question ,the attached picture is the correct rivets from a 1969 dash. Some of these people might be legit buyers-- so a good answer will assist, I know in Kansas I could not legally title that car -with a messed up VIN,
this is a spare 69 convert dash I have.

IMHO, showing the pics to the question does give answers. Someone's telling you their or another persons' reason they made some mods, did what they did, or something else is not extremely important. Nice to know, but not end of the world.

The car speaks for itself. The car will make a case for itself if you can thoroughly examine it. If I'm looking at a car in person, what the owner tells me helps most importantly registration info.

Because it's missing the tag and seems to have dash frame swapped in from a 68 Dart, I think it's important and reasonable to show pictures of stamped numbers on the radiator support and trunk lip. That will only help the selling price of the car. Right now the only physical proof it's a GTS conv is the vin with non original rivets. Need to connect vin to body. Oldest registration papers you have with vin will help too, but not totally necessary if you have body stamping pictures.

Also pictures of the motor vin stamping and trans vin stamping will help.

There are plenty of older restorations on E-bodies that have dash vin swapped with proper vin rivets. This Dart GTS conv does look like an older resto. It's not the end of the world. They make rivets now.

Need pictures of:
  • radiator support stamping
  • trunk stamping

Would really help if pictures of:
  • motor vin stamping
  • trans vin stamping
  • or if you confirmed one or both are not matching, just state that without pictures.

In many states possessing a vin tag not attached to a car like you have pictured there in your possession is illegal.

But we all that have spare dash frames do it.

If this car was transferred title in California, it would not undergo an inspection and no one would notice the vin rivets. I suspect with the age of the vehicle many inspector would not note the lack of rosset rivet.

There is a '68 console in there, plus it is missing the rocker panel moldings that belong on a '69 GTS. I really don't see how anyone can call this car "restored" with all the mixed '68 & '69 parts on it. Hmmmmmm....

He says it's an older restoration. It's definitely not original untouched. And it's obviously be repainted and fixed up. And what took place was more that a repaint. It's looks to have had major disassembly at one time. IMHO, it's restored. Just not to an high detail original level. Just worn over the years.

Restorations that took place 20 years ago tended not to go to the level they do today. Especially A-bodies that have increase greatly in desirability, more widespread appreciation, and value.

The dash was changed to a 68 because he likes it better, Tail panel has been changed back to the 69. I have the complete VIN from the dash as well as the Radiator support to share with current bidders only. Rockers Molding was removed and rear stripe was added. I will not be answering any more questions here as many are duplicated in Ebay™.
please send all future correspondence through Ebay™ so I can keep track of them.
Thanks for your understanding.

Seems fair and logical enough.

Nice trunk panel

IMHO, pictures of the rear trunk stamping will help the sale. I know you have to cut and lift the trunk weatherstrip, but if cut carefully with a fresh razor blade the new owner can re-glue it or just put on a $35 new weatherstrip.

$35 in the scheme of this car is not much. You will get $35 worth of added interest and buyer confidence by showing the trunk numbers.

Might even consider stopping the auction and retaking pictures with correct trunk trim, radiator/trunk support numbers (can block first or last 3 numbers), find out if motor and trans is number matching. Numbers motor would add a $500-$1000 to the sale easily since it's missing fender tag and buildsheet. I don't relisting would hurt the sale. And would give the car some added fermentation time to get buzz and talk around the Mopar world.

On the other hand, it sounds like you are helping a friend sell it. So at some time enough is enough.

You are very concerned are you buying the car or just picking my buddies auction apart? Guy is a honest and nice person. There are issues with the car and he has tried to address them. That is all.

I complimented him on answering the questions and adding info to the ebay ad.

I defended the car numerous times when other posters alluded to a vin swap, the car not being restored, and having wrong year parts.

I complimented the GTS panel because it IS in really nice condition and installing it WILL help the sale. That panel looks to be nicer than the 68 panel that was on it (which was really nice too).

In his ebay ad he said he was frustrated that he couldn't ad the new pictures of the rear trunk panel. And he said he would provide radiator support numbers.

The only way to fix his frustration is to add the pictures would be to stop the auction and start again. I suggested it wouldn't hurt the sale to start again. But I admitted it was a hassle when he was just trying to help a friend sell his car. His call.

On May-24-15 at 18:25:12 PDT, seller added the following information:

Update:

The tail panel has been changed to the correct GTS panel 1969 Model Year.

Ebay™ will not let me add the photo (I already told them that is a stupid policy)

Serious buyers that have an active been: I can email you the pictures of the tail panel on the car as well as the complete VIN from the dash and Radiator support.

The dash was changed years ago because he likes the 68 Dash better as well as the console top plate.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

I never picked the car apart. I just asked if he had or didn't have certain items and knew certain numbers were on the car.

no fender tag and no build sheet doesn't seem to be hurting the bidding.
its at a pretty good price so far.
