Just bought a 74 Plymouth valiant/scamp and dash pad is crack. How do I remove it to replace? Please Help!

It's hard to describe, but stay away from a dash place called:

Dash Masters

run by:

Alan Fox

If you see him, grab your wallet tight and run... Run fast, run far, run Forest, run....

Dash pad removal is simple, you just need the right tools. Start by removing the instrument cluster. You will probably need to drop the steering column to do this. Then after the cluster is out, go to the other side and remove the glovebox liner. Now for the right tool--DUCT TAPE!! Wrap duct tape around your wrist so that you don't sever an artery reaching through all those nice sharp-edged openings (cluster opening and glovebox opening) to reach the fasteners on the bottom side of the pad holding it to the dash frame. You may also find it helpful to dislocate your wrist first, so as to be able to bend it in directions it was never intended to go.

Seriously, I have done several of these, and they aren't THAT bad. But go in knowing you WILL get cut.

Be prepared to "stretch your vocabulary" a bit in the process. Dunno how it is on a '74, but on my '67 Dart they used very shallow hex-head screws that were a real PITA to get out, especially on the ends where they're sort of recessed in the corner of the dash. When I put it back together I used phillips sheet metal screws.
