Just bought a 74 Plymouth valiant/scamp and dash pad is crack. How do I remove it to replace? Please Help!

under the dash, out ou the lip are 5 small bolts with nuts that have to be removed, the pad is a formed foam molded around an iron bracket that have the five bolts that go thru the dash, finding a good used one is hard, so take any color you can find and dye it or dig deep and pay about 250- 300 dollars for a new rplacement, oh yeah, there is a screw on each end where it curves down about 2 inches from the end to hold the end down

they make a pad that covers the old one ,but it just covers a lot of ugly. they cost about 100 dollars and dont look that good, so if you go with original,it takes some work

This man has got it. But there is dash caps (from what I remember is it's name). For around 80$. They are plastic caps that go over the dash pad (foam/fabric/frame) that makes it look nice again for on the cheap. I'm sure if some of my info is wrong another member will fill in.

Thank you all. I'm gonna try to remove it tomorrow afternoon so if I can't get it ill be back

A dash pad is not considered desperate help , false advertising in the thread title

:banghead:

Caco, It will help if you remove the front seat, so you can lay down and get to the nuts. Might have to remove under dash a/c vent also

hopefully you are not like me and 67 years old!!!! yes remove the front seat and then hire the neighbor bid that has a lots of dexterity!

Also have bandaids, hydrogen peroxide and paper towels on hand as well. There is a lot of sharp metal under that dash. I hope I don't have to remove another dash pad anytime soon.
